Also, people are leaving because they're throwing tantrums over getting punished because they're arrogant enough to think they're never in the wrong so they always pass the buck and blame others before their selves. I've said this until I've gone blue in the face but Setanta had MANY chances, he broke a lot of rules and generally made the place unpleasant to use.

The thing is before the new wave of Moderators came on board there weren't many mods who were regurlarly on so I think a lot of stuff got through the filters because of the lack of staff at that time since more mods have been appointed we've been able to keep ahead of things and people can't handle the fact we're better at enforcing the rules more.

But people felt quite happy here at the "old" times, and I don't think that this forum was Sodom & Gomorrah just because of having a bit more freedom

Dezzy, Setanta is a complete and utter pain in the arse. Trust me. I was public enemy number one. I'm sure theres plenty in mod towers about it. I'm not questioning those decisions. Only the fact NO ONE will be left soon and it was unfair to challenge someone who had just been banned and cannot reply (Clay)

the point is I think people got used to getting away with a lot more so when we started clamping down a bit more they couldn't handle it. Saying that though people are acting like we've become Guantanamo Bay when really we're still probably the most lenient forum I've ever come across.

I don't say that this is not the fact, but a forum is also a place to have fun with each other, but it will not be fun anymore, as soon as nobody dares to speak freely anymore when it comes to certain topics... That also make people leave a forum.
Of course constant moaning and complaining also doesn't get us anywhere - A softer change may have been the better solution, but well

Well I don't know if a permaban spree happened when my back was turned but since I've been a mod we've only permabanned two people and one of those we overturned. We're not exactly banning everyone and anyone who gets a temp ban it's due to a build up of infractions so it's their own faults for it. If I'm honest I'm not bothered about the people who want to leave because they got infracted because that's just a bit silly really and most of these members just want to cause a bit of drama and come back a few minutes later. I'm more concerned about the other half of the forum that don't feel the need to blow up all the time over an infraction. Those are the ones that are gonna keep this forum alive not the burnouts that throw their toys out of the pram every opportunity they get.

With the post aimed at Claymores, this isn't a debate in real life. There's no time limits to posts, if he feels that strongly about it he can comment on it when his ban is up. I said it as a throwaway comment and it was generally aimed at all the amatuer conspiracy theorists that think we're some omnipotent evil force of doom.

You're acting like we're the secret police or something. Speak freely all you want but if you've got questions about bans or infractions PM a mod but half the forum ignore that part because they want an audience and have no real intention of sorting out problems and only care about starting arguments.

That's why people get infracted because if we see a thread like that, we'll think you don't intend on solving whatever problem you have but are using it to cause drama. It's not like we don't explain to people enough that they should use PM if they have any problems it's just that they don't listen as they don't want to give up a reason to moan and bitch.

No idea what Clay thinks. I made the comment myself funnily enough. I don't speak for others

And you may not care what people with bans or infractions think. Why should you? Think again at Xmas though when the forums dead. Trust me, I've seen it

Maybe a lot of people fear to get not treated fair when they doing it via PM, because they will not have any witness for what everyone has said

I think it is pretty much fine. Just checked there and saw that Claymores has 36 previous infractions and warnings. I'd guess on many forums someone with that record would be banned a fair while ago. We are pretty lenient here really.

If people are leaving it is not because of overly-harsh or unfair moderating, more likely people not sticking to the rules and causing arguments.

Idk what you're on about. The mods do a good job, can't ye tell by me being banned all the time. I never complain when I am banned because a mods decision is final and ye should respect that.

The thing is the people who explode and leave because they can't handle being wrong are in the minority, from what I've seen most members take any infractions and move on. Like I said before these are the members that'll keep the forum going as the former type of members will always be destined to kick off and leave.

It's not like I don't care about people with infractions or bans, I've said more times then I care to remember that if you have a problem to talk to us as we do make mistakes and sometimes we act a bit too quickly so if you make a good case we can do overturn infractions and such. I just don't care for the members that can't be civil and fly off the handle, those kind of members are ticking timebombs and will always end up leaving and I'm not going to waste my time on somebody who can't be civil.

That's the only thing I ask of members if they wish to talk to me about mod or infraction stuff, it's the members who act like children I won't give no time to.

So do I. Did I moan about my last infraction? No. Never even mentioned it.
