I spent half an hour trying to open a tin of tuna, and ended up settling for the beans (they have the pully open top).

Yes I can use any kind and I can also open a tin with a big knife if there is no opener.

Yes.

It normally takes a few turns because you start then it stops so you have to put it back in.

Just the right technique followed by applying the right ammount of pressure.
