The crowd were told not to react to the hms names. Otherwise Pete and the rest would have known how popular or unpopular they were.

I reckon the crowd should be ushered in after the housemates name is read out and in the 30 minutes they can take their places and greet the evictee.

The booing is only to let them know who they want out then they cheer when they get kicked out.

The crowd always boo someone when Davina reads out the phone lines. Towards the end of the show, everyone is atleast guarenteed 50% cheers when they leave, even Susie will get cheered. There of course is an exception to this rule if you name is Makosi.
