I don't hold it against Pete for not being able to keep in his disappointment over not getting a letter. I am glad Richard went over to Pete to cuddle him though - shows Richard in a good light!

I thought it was a selfish thing to do. He's very un-caring in my eyes, and no, that isn't the first un-caring thing he has done so far.

Selfish for making sure Pete was ok? Is caring about someone now a selfish act? You spout all this bollocks about Richard and then have the gaul ask why people hate Aisleyne? You've made your point that you don't like Richard now get over it!

what was selfish, richard cuddling pete or pete not being sympathetic towards richard? for me, the fact that richard recieved that news, then still came out & showed some love to pete shows that richard has real character imho...

Umm, do you know who I'm talking about? PETE.
He was so selfish to be more concerned about the fact that he didn't get his letter, than about everyone else receiving theres.

see, it was very poor from pete, but they tried to make it like "awwwww - lets feel sorry for pete!" when it was him that left the prison anyway...

but this kind of character only comes with maturity & composer, that is why i would have liked a few more older HMs this year, stable 1s mind - not like shabaz. BB shouldnt put people in there with issues, it could drive them mad! unless the person is calm, collective & mature about themselves...

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to clarify a few things as there seems to be some confusion about the letter I wrote to Richard. First off, my mum is in recovery and shame on those people that said she was dying!! Second, we wrote the letter thinking Richard would receive it in private. He didn't want the public or housemates to know about her cancer because he feared people would perceive the information negatively and it's a private family matter.

Put yourself in his position. Being gone for 12 weeks and not knowing how your mum is feeling? Why wouldn't I mention her recovery in the letter, it's the only thing he’s been concerned about and I felt it was the most important information.

We wanted to keep this information out of the press but unfortunately, it was leaked and sold to the press on two separate occasions. The matter is still very private and I don't feel the need to discuss it any further.

I could tell Richard was concerned about my mum and I wanted him to enjoy his birthday and the rest of however much time he has in the house.

Thanks for your understanding and your constant support.

Clare
Sorry, but I'm not buying this for one moment. Are you seriously trying to tell us that Endemol allowed a private letter giving specific details of an appalling illness to be read out without yours and the rest of the family's approval? (If they did something like that to me, I would sue !) Didn't Endemol contact you to ask if it was OK to broadcast the transcript of the letter? If you knew that there was the possiblity that a letter from you might be read out at some stage of the week (and this was heavily signposted for days as a reward), why didn't you contact Endemol to make sure that the letter you are referring to was pulled?

Why have any reference to specific details of her illness in it at all? Why couldn't there have been a letter couched in general terms (e.g. Mum is well), without going into detail? Why, if Richard was so concerned about this becoming an issue didn't he immediately storm the Diary Room and complain?

Richard wasn't so concerned about it becoming an issue. She only mentioned that they would have liked it to be a personal letter and not broadcasted. She didn't say it was the be all and end all of that letter.

"We wrote the letter thinking Richard would receive it in private". Doesn't sound like they wanted it to be read out to me. I don't believe for one moment that Endemol would have allowed this letter to be broadcast without going over every single syllable with relatives.

I didn't say that they wanted it to be read out. I said (as Clare said) they would have liked it to be a personal letter.

Anyway, it was a nice letter (although personal). Even though it's got nothing to do with us it's nice to see his mum had recovered from Chemo.

A nice (and conveniently timed) letter I would suggest, and you're right, it has got nothing to do with us, so why mention it in the first place?
