Question iTunes wants me to restore iPod after they broke it?

Patrick's Hate For Apple + 700

Okay they were like 'hai, update your ipod for no reason what so ever because we're bored and rather than doing something relevant we'll waste your time throwing another unessecary update at you x'

So I click 'Okay.'

And it was going to update my iTunes and iPod together.
Half way through it goes:

'Patrick's iPod cannot be updated for an unkown reason.'
/sohelpful

Then my iPod froze and now it shows the iTunes Logo and a Cable on the screen and it won't let me do anything like listen to music or anything like that - it's in a vegetable state FFS.

iTunes says the only solution is to restore it.

caution spoiler may contain capital letters and swear words
Spoiler:

Well Apple, I've got news for you - GET OFF YOUR ******ING ARSE AND HELP YOUR CUSTOMERS, MY IPOD WAS WORKING FINE FOR MONTHS AND THEN YOU JUST HAD TO COME ALONG AND ****** EVERYTHING ABOUT, WHY? DOES IT GIVE YOU PLEASURE? I DON'T WANT TO ******ING RESTORE IT.
GET OFF YOUR ******ING HIGH HORSE APPLE, MP3S >>>>>>>>>>>>> iPODS ANYWAY! WANKERS.

So yeah does anyone know how I can fix this and get my iPod back to normal without restoring it?

Oh and for the record, I'm so ******ing Jail Breaking it in the future just to kick Apple in the bollocks.

Really? So there's no way around it at all?

Honestly, the world should just rebel and go back to like having cheap MP3s from like '06.
That would show them.

Is iPod touch not responding? To reset iPod touch, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I did that - it kind of goes black and then the Apple Logo appears and afterwards it goes straight back onto the picture of the iTunes Logo and the Cable.

I hate Apple. They do this all the time. I refuse to update anymore now.

You can download an app called TinyUmbrella that'll kick your iTouch/iPhone out of recovery, probably a bit late now though.
