I think this article by Amanda Platell in the Daily Mail gives an apt description of Imogen

Quote:
Take the case of Imogen Thomas. Her married lover (another Premier League footballer and supposed ‘family man’) won a gagging order to protect his wife and children while Imogen was named and shamed.

She may be a rather tawdry figure. But why should she be gagged for telling the truth, while a liar and a cheat gets the full protection of the law? Now, thanks to inevitable online speculation about who is hiding behind other injunctions, it is Gabby’s turn to pay the price for another man’s ‘rights’.

Default Imogen Thomas fights to out star

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view...s-to-out-star/

Quote:
THE footballer lover of model Imogen Thomas could be named and shamed on Monday.

Ex-Big Brother star Imogen Thomas will go to court to ask a judge to overturn a super- injunction banning the married player’s identity from being revealed.

Legal sources say Mr Justice Eady could cave in since the footballer has been named in foreign newspapers because the ID ban does not apply abroad.
I'm guessing thet the judge won't "cave in" .....

THE Premier League love cheat who gagged model Imogen Thomas after their affair and won a super-injunction to protect his lucrative image may be unmasked in the High Court today.

The Sun is fighting to have the order lifted which bans us from naming the multi-millionaire.

The married household name won the super-injunction and left Big Brother babe Imogen exposed because she could not afford the estimated £50,000 cost of a gagging order.

Mr Justice Eady will hear our appeal today.

Imogen Thomas, 28, arrived at the High Court dressed demurely in a knee-length blue dress in a bid to overturn the ban after claiming that widespread naming of the footballer on the internet made a mockery of the order.

Exclamation Imogen Thomas fails in bid to lift gagging order

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...-gagging-order

Quote:
Imogen Thomas, the former Big Brother contestant whose relationship with a married Premier League footballer was made the subject of a court gagging order, has failed in a joint bid with the Sun to overturn the injunction.

Thomas said on Monday she was "stunned" following the high court judgment by Mr Justice Eady and claimed there was "something seriously wrong with the law".

"Yet again my name and reputation have been trashed while the man I had a relationship with is able to hide," said Thomas, speaking outside the high court. "What's more I can't even defend myself because I have been gagged. If this is the way privacy injunctions are supposed to work there is something seriously wrong with the law. I have read the judgment and I am stunned by how I am portrayed."

Thomas was speaking after Eady explained why he made an order banning journalists from reporting the identity of a footballer involved in a relationship with the reality television contestant. He also issued a written account of his reasons for making the order after listening to arguments from lawyers representing the footballer, Thomas and the Sun newspaper at a private hearing.
I wonder if we'll get to know what this "written account of his reasons" is or will it be "protected" .....

Thumbs down Judge explains reasons for granting Premiership footballer gagging order

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/en...#ixzz1MWavw5Zx

Quote:
Mr Justice Eady later issued a written account of his reasons for making the order after listening to arguments from lawyers representing the footballer, Imogen and the newspaper at a private hearing in London.

The judge, who issued the injunction temporarily banning reporting last month after a private hearing, said the footballer was married with a family and the court had to consider his privacy rights under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

He said the footballer was likely to obtain a permanent injunction if the case went to trial and the "information" was such that he was entitled to a "reasonable expectation of privacy".
So why is only the BRITISH legal system prepared to accept payment to uphold Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights ?

And why should somebody who cheats on his wife and lies to his sponsors be entitled to a "reasonable expectation of privacy" ?

Just the same sad old arguments .....

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...rder-blackmail

The judge seems to be making a lot of assumptions on behalf of the player who paid him :

Quote:
Mr Justice Eady on Monday refused a joint bid by Thomas and the Sun newspaper to overturn the high-profile footballer's privacy injunction — before setting out his reasons for doing so in an eight-page judgment.

Quote:
Eady said there was "ample reason not to trust" Thomas, and said the evidence before the court on 14 April "appeared strongly to suggest that the claimant [the anonymous footballer] was being blackmailed".
The footballer accused Thomas of repeatedly demanding £50,000 from the footballer in March. He agreed to meet her "in a hotel where he was staying" in April. There he gave her "a signed football shirt" but said he was not prepared to give her "the sum of £50,000".

She asked to see him again shortly afterwards to which "he agreed with reluctance" and provided her with some football tickets. Although the position was "by no means clear" Mr Justice Eady said he believed that evidence "appeared to suggest" that the reality TV star arranged two hotel meetings with the player apparently "in collaboration with photographers and/or journalists".

The player claimed that on 13 April, he texted Thomas to say that he might be willing to offer her some money after all. At this point, Thomas is accused of attempting to solicit £100,000 from the player.

Quote:
"The evidence before the court at that point, therefore, appeared strongly to suggest that the claimant was being blackmailed (although that is not how he put it himself)," Eady said on Monday.
"I hasten to add, as is obvious, that I cannot come to any final conclusion about it at this stage. I have to make an assessment of the situation on the limited (and untested) evidence as it now stands."
It seems to me that if the player was being blackmailed (AFAIK, a criminal offence), he should have referred it to the police after obtaining his "injunction" not make unsubstantiated accusations though his paid lackey .....

Default Blackmail

http://www.marymonson.co.uk/blackmail.php

Quote:
Blackmail is demanding something from someone and then gaining from this demand. The demand must be unwarranted and ‘with menaces’ – a threat from the blackmailer to do something for not agreeing to the demand. The threat doesn’t have to be something illegal and doesn’t even have to be true. An example would be demanding £200 from someone in order to refrain from telling the world of their past adultery, previous criminal record or adultery.

Blackmail and extortion can range from the low level example given above, to cases involving political figures involved in bribery and organised crime. All cases are dealt with only in the Crown Court. The maximum sentence is 14 years.

Default Imogen Thomas: My fury at judge's blackmail 'attack'

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...il-attack.html

Quote:
The Premier League love rat's lawyers claimed Imogen, 28, demanded £100,000 to stop her going public about the six-month fling.

Britain's top privacy judge, Mr Justice Eady, accepted the claim without ANY proof as he explained why he had granted a super-injunction against her and The Sun.

Incredibly he did so after admitting the evidence for the blackmail allegations was "limited" and "untested" - and could prove to be "inaccurate or misleading".

Mr Justice Eady said there was "ample reason not to trust Ms Thomas" and claimed she tried to "set up" the ace with our help - which we can reassure readers is untrue.

Imogen said she was distraught she had no chance to give her version of events yesterday.

There is no evidence the player's advisers have reported the blackmail allegation to cops. The judge first granted the injunction on April 14. The Sun's publisher, News Group Newspapers, is bidding to overturn it.
Judge "The Lackey" Eady seems to be setting up his own legal system, where the guilty are "innocent" and the innocent are "guilty", without recourse to evidence or trial .....

That same thought went through my mind too - if it was blackmail, why wasn't it reported, investigated etc? Great 'Judge' that allows 'suppsed' blackmail threats to be made and no legal action taken. Maybe because there isn't any real truth in it and they (the Judge) are doing a very bad job of trying to cover their backs? This story seems to become more ludicrous every week.

Maybe if Imogen just shut up about this and went on about her life I wouldn't have to see her mug in front of the sun all the time. You had an affair with a married man and now he doesn't want to know, DEAL WITH IT LIKE 98% OF THE SCUMBUCKETS DO IN REAL LIFE stop milking this for all the publicity it's worth.

When will women learn men rarely leave their wives for the one he had at a drop of a hat
All her bawling is because she wants him named? say he is then flipping what? what is won or gained or bettered? get on with your life woman there's probably another celeb in the corner you still haven't added to your ****book.

Gah why am I so mean sometimes

The interesting thing is that the footballer made this claim

Quote:
The footballer accused Thomas of repeatedly demanding £50,000 from the footballer in March. He agreed to meet her "in a hotel where he was staying" in April. There he gave her "a signed football shirt" but said he was not prepared to give her "the sum of £50,000".
She has been trying to sell a signed Manchester United shirt on ebay/twitter well before April.

A thought has just occurred to me, Prawny. Why would anyone listen to your invented stories about Imogen when she's making a big enough arse of herself in real life?

Plus - did anyone buy that shirt?

Whoever the guy is, personally, I think he is a coward.

Imogen Thomas has basically made a career of 'kiss & tell'.

The 'Gagging Order' has had a counter-effect, and amplified by what was a attempt to sweep a sordid affair under the carpet (by going to court, to make it go away? REALLY, is he THAT stupid????)

Stop bleating already, Imogen. Even if you didn't know he was married with children, you are not doing yourself any favours with whining after it's all over.

No remorse for the hurt caused to the children in this, or his wife.

Just "ME, ME, ME" on both sides.

Selfish people

As guilty she is why is the footballer getting away with it, she's getting called everything under the sun but the footballer is getting away with it all surely he is just as bad if not more so being that he is in the relationship with someone else.

Arrow Step-dad Stuart Radford speaks of fury at blackmail claims

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-sto...5875-23142323/
Quote:
Imogen, 28, is banned from salvaging her trashed reputation while the Premier League ace’s identity is protected by a court injunction.

And after seeing his beloved Ims falling apart on telly, the man who raised her from the age of eight leapt to her defence.

Speaking for the first time about the scandal, former oil worker Stuart, 61, said: “It broke my heart seeing her in such a state. She’s clearly not coping and I’m genuinely concerned she’s on the verge of a breakdown. I’ve seen my little girl branded a ***** and a home-breaker, and people telling her to die.

“But now a High Court judge has used the word ‘blackmail’ without any proof whatsoever and I’m incensed and disgusted. I know my little girl better than anyone and I can promise you there is no way she went to this man and demanded money.

“She loved him. I was with her as the relationship developed and I could see it was very serious as far as she was concerned. This footballer may be trying to protect his family and image now, and he has the money to pay those top lawyers.

“But if he has any sense of decency or morality he needs to do something now to help Imogen. She is sinking under the weight of all of this – you only have to look at her to see how fragile she is.

“I’m so angry that I’m gagged too – because I want to go out and tell the world who he is and what really happened.”

"This latest blackmail claim is the final straw. If anyone thinks there’s the slightest truth in the suggestion she demanded money then why isn’t she under arrest – because that’s a serious criminal offence."

“I look at the footballer concerned and think, ‘It’s obviously not affecting you or your game, is it?’.
Seems like a nice guy .....

Quote:
Imogen’s parents split up when she was six and her elder sister, Alana, was seven.

Two years later mum Jan met and married Stuart, who has two children by his first marriage. The couple, of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, are now foster carers.
