An artificial sweetener used in Diet Coke is to undergo an urgent EU safety review.
One recent study linked diet drinks containing aspartame to premature births, while another suggested it could cause cancer.

I have been using that when making coca cola cake for others There is always a food or drink comes under scrutiny and is considered bad for us long after many of us have consumed quantities of it over time I have to add I don't touch diet drinks as I can't stand the taste of them.

That aspartame is used in lots of food and drinks, its in some cereals and chewing gum too.

Not new news really i've known that for ages. Yea pretty much any thing with artificial sweetener in has carcinogenic tendencies and can cause cancer.
