Default Sleeping Dogs

We haven't seen a new installment in the True Crime series in six years, and its attempted comeback has been plagued with issues. It initially faced delays, but eventually got axed altogether by Activision. Even with its troubles, it may still see the light of day if Square Enix has anything to say about it.

The Japanese publisher recently picked up the rights to True Crime: Hong Kong, which is still in development at United Front Games. "When we first saw and got our hands on the game we fell in love with it," said Lee Singleton of Square Enix London Studios. "When we met the team at United Front Games, it was a done deal in our eyes – we instantly recognized the huge potential in the game and the team."

Despite canning the project, Activision seems happy with the outcome. Regarding the change of plans, executive Eric Hirshberg said the following: "Square Enix gets the benefit of the tremendous investment we've made in the game thus far. UFG gets to stay together and complete their vision. And gamers get to play a great game. We couldn't be more thrilled."

No release date is set for the recently-revived series.
