Default Problem with my laptop screen - Can anyone help?

Right.

I got a new laptop about 3 months ago and, recently, I've noticed there's a bright spot on the screen. That's the only way I can describe it really. I know it's not a dead pixel, I've seen those before and this is different. It's probably about the size of a pixel though (maybe a little bit bigger).

Another thing, it's only visible on white or light backgrounds. For example, looking at the TiBB skin (The one Molly made, Metal, I think it's called) I can't see anything when the pixel is on the blue background at the top, but as soon as I scroll down and it's on the grey background, it's there.

I've had a quick look on Google but can't find anything, mainly because I don't know what to search for because I don't know what you call it. Has anyone ever had anything like this before or know what it's called so I can get more info about it?

Is it around the edges and have you wiped it with wet wipes?
I made the mistake of wiping mine with a baby wipe a while ago (yes i know its a silly thing to have done) and where i had done round the edge caused liquid to seep into the screen and that made it look like a big bright spot on one side of the screen but it slowly faded as it dried and was back to normal after a couple of weeks could it be that?

If it is pixel sized though it could be a stuck pixel which can some times be fixed http://www.geeksaresexy.net/2007/08/...an-lcd-screen/

Not really, it's abut three inches down from the top and about 4/5 inches in from the left hand side.

I haven't used baby wipes, but I have used screen cleaner and a soft cloth that came with that. I suppose it could be liquid though, may have just dripped down a bit.

Thanks for that link too, I'll give it a go. If that doesn't work, I'll leave it a couple of weeks to see if it will dry out like yours and then I'll have to take it back to PC World if nothing's changed. I'd prefer to fix it myself if I can though, I hate dealing with customer services.

Oh no mine was like a proper wet patch about an inch in diameter so prob not that but one of those stuck pixel fixes might work.
If all else fails and they get stubborn about fixing it for the sake of a pixel just get a wire rigged up to 240 volts and touch every exposed metal bit you can find with it and just say it stopped working if its still in warranty they will replace it no problem then it works a treat

If it's only 3 months old, it will still be under warranty. I'd be taking it back to where I bought it.

Why don't you do that?

I will if I can't fix it. I prefer to try and do it myself first because I hate dealing with customer services.

Problem with that Boothy is, if you start tinkering and footering about - and inadvertantly do some damage: taking it back for the retailer to sort out might not be so easy.

The cost of them: all I can say is I'd be taking it back and demanding a replacement - none of this 'repair' palava - a replacement.

Yeah, I suppose. I'm not gonna do anything I'm not comfortable with. Ill probably end up taking it in tomorrow anyway. Just thought I'd ask if anyone knew of an easy fix.

Totally get what you are saying, it could have been a very quick fix. Just would hate to see you buggering it up and having no come back when it's so new.
