Default Quitting Smoking, Trying E-Cigs

So i've been tryna quit smoking for quite a while now with very little luck. I quit for 4 months a few years ago, but that's the best i've ever managed. SO I ordered these new Vaporizer electronic cigarettes, hoping that i can quit this way.

Has anyone else tried quitting smoking using these things?

I just got it today, and so far so good. It definitely is satisfying having something in my hand and something in my mouth, so it satisfies my oral fixation.

Curious if anyone else has tried e-cigarettes and what they think of them. Were you able to give up smoking real cigs?

My dad has one. He currently has the cinamon flavour vapor

he changes the flavour every month or so so that he doesnt get bored. I had a try of it a few weeks back and it quite repulsed me tbh. I didn't realise that they actually put vapor out(so you get the feel of smoke hitting the back of your throat), and got a shock when I sucked it

Seems to be working for him though

Yea i'm surprised by how much it really does feel like smoking. You get the good hit on the back of the throat like real smoking, and ofcourse it's very satisfying actually seeing what looks like smoke come out, even though it's really just water vapor. And i love how it lights up at the end like a real cig cherry does.

I'm very happy with it right now.

You know what's funny, is I keep on flicking it instinctively trying to ash it, but there is no ash. lol.

We went to a race night to raise money for my little brothers football team...and my dad was just sat in the middle of the bar puffing away, and they came over and asked him if he realised smoking was illegal inside

I dont know if they all do this, but his lights up when he takes a draw, and in the dark/dim light it does actually look a bit like a real fag

Yea mine does that too, i went to turn out all the lights in the bathroom to see it, it was cool lol.

I'm still a bit wary of how safe it is though. But hey, if it turns out to not be safe, at least i can sue and become a millionaire. *shrugs*

Umm. Kinda.

He does have the odd one every now and again if everyone else around him is smoking :/ Hes what i would call..a very rare occasional social smoker.

When hes on his own though he doesnt touch them.

I wish we were allowed to have different flavours here, But California banned them from selling other flavours because they said it was too tempting to kids if you had flavours like cherry and vanilla and chocolate etc... SO they are only allowed to sell it with tobacco flavoured packs.

TO me the tobacco flavoured cartridges tastes more like maple syrup flavor. Doesn't really taste like a real cigarette to me, but i still like it. I don't think it really tastes like tobacco though. But there are many different brands, this is the first i've tried.

I like the fact that you can also order different levels of nicotine, so i ordered full cigarette levels of nicotine now, but when i get more cartridges later i can order less nicotine, and then less the next time after that, and hopefully ween myself off that way.

That's my plan at least.

I honestly dont think things like this work in the long run though. even if you wean yourself off nicotene...the urge to always have something in your hand/mouth/'smoke' hitting your throat/etc will still be there :/

I fully believe the only way to completely quit smoking is to just stop. No aids or anything.

awwww, don't say that! I'm gonna give it the old college try. Wish me luck!

You might be right though. I do think there's more to it then just the nicotine.

I got one nearly 2 years ago now just because i was pissed off with the smoking ban that came into force in the uk and one thing i loved was smoking in the pub and hated having to go outside to smoke so i thought il try one of these i had no intention of stopping smoking.
They taste a bit weird at first but i noticed that almost by accident i hadnt smoked a cig for the whole day when i got it then a week and then i thought oh well screw it i will just do this instead and apart from running out of e-liquid a couple of times i havent really smoked for 2 years i just use an e-cig.

I loved smoking but i love my e-cig just as much now they are amazing things they are an absolute lifesaver and the only reason they havent replaced tobacco is because of politics and money.

They are safe and have been tested for years but the american FDA and the uk equivalent MHRA wont recognise it because of the huge amount of money involved in selling useless (although medically approved) patches, inhalers and gum all curiously made by companys owned by phillip morris the biggest manufacturers of cigarettes in the world.

So anyway yes they work yes they are safe.
You will need to buy one of the bigger mods if you plan to use them long term the e-cigs that look like cigs and light up on the end the batteries wear out too quickly buy a screwdriver mark 2 or something.

Best tip i can give is replace the atomisers every 2 weeks even if they seem to be working ok they wear out without you really noticing you will be blaming your batteies when its really your atomiser.

Thanks for the feedback Bob, will definitely look into the screwdriver if i decide to stick with the e-cigs.

And congrats on quitting smoking for 2 years!
