Arrow Square-Enix registers Final Fantasy XIII-3 website

Final Fantasy XIII-2 won't be out until December in Japan and January in North America, but a new website domain registration suggests that publisher Square Enix may already be thinking about the next sequel in line.

Fusible uncovered that Corporation Service Company, a registrar that Square has used for previous sites in the past, registered www.finalfantasyxiii-3.com earlier this week. Square has previously made a direct sequel to Final Fantasy X, but if FF XIII-3 ends up being real, it would be the first time for the publisher to make a second direct sequel to one of its mainline Final Fantasy games.

Then again, a domain registration is still a long way off from a game announcement. If Final Fantasy XIII-3 is really in the planning stages, I wouldn't expect to hear anything about it until XIII-2 is out the door.

Too much. No matter how decent XIII-2 is they need to get their ass in gear with new a new IP not rape the same deal for three games.

The neverending downfall of Square continues.

I reckon they've probably just grabbed it as a possibility rather then a promise. a lot of companies register sites they don't end up using.

I preferred Final Fantasy XII at least it actually had towns and it was free roam unlike the vast majority of FFXIII the characters were just as bad though

I agree with Dezzy, Final Fantasy III was horrible...so....bleh. XIII was good, it just lacked some things, XIII-2 is adding those things back in.

It may have had towns but it had an awful battle system, terrible characters and the most boring FF story ever. The only major problems with XIII was the linearity and the vagueness of the story.

I hated XII but I'd still take it over XIII because it actually felt like a video game. III is fantastic. Are you judging it on the awful DS version or something?

It was fine for it's time. Very solid entry IMO.

FFXIII's battle system was pretty shocking IMO it all felt to set out for you the characters in FFXIII were nearly as bad in fact Balthier is a better character then any characters in FFXIII he is pretty popular amongst FF fans as well there isn't really anyone in FFXIII you can call a cult fan favourite and i enjoyed the story in FFXII for what it was it was it was different and it was explained really well

I'm not sure which version of III it was but it was really boring, I've played many RPG's from around that time which were much better.

It came out in 1990 and I can't think of many other decent RPG's that year. Phantasy Star III was cack.

The only way to play the original is through emulation with a fan translation as it was never released outside Japan until the DS version. It's average as hell to be fair but I'd still take it over XIII.

I played the DS version first, then I had a quick go on the original. I just couldn't get into it at all. It was very boring.

The older games are so good for leveling up it takes hardly any effort at all when you get to certain points in the game as long as you don't flee and look for battles once in a while That cave on the moon in FFIV was amazing for that
