Shaun, have you spoken to anyone at your Student Union? They can sometimes refer you to people who make loans/bursaries/one-off payments to students who have really tight finances. If they can't help, they should be able to refer you to someone who can.

It makes me SO mad that Labour introduced tuition fees, then the Tories trebled them. ALL the people who made those decisions got a free education... the utter b*stards.

Thanks Livia, I'll get in contact with them. I got a reply from the finance department saying she'd forwarded my email to some other guy in charge of student finance.

I'd be totally fine, but all of my bills come at the start of the term rather than towards the end (which is when I tend to get most of my payments)
