I pretty much agree with what you have Legend.

I have been in favour of it in the past but just recently, in fact this week with Ian Huntley trying to kill himself, it's pretty much a way out and it's no better than what they have done really, what right does a judge or whoever have to say on who lives and dies.I just seem it as inhumane and basically setting a bad example like you kill someone so we take your life.

The person who has done the crime should face up to what they have done and spend the rest of their time in prison thinking of what they have done and the pain and suffering that they have caused.

Like you said innocent people do end up dying because of the death penalty which is totally unfair, there have been cases of years down the line they have found further evidence or someone has come forward and confessed to prove it was not the person who had been executed and what a waste of a life that is.As bad as prison might be there is no bringing back someone that has been murdered, the innocent person can be freed from prison but there is just no way back with the death penalty.

Some people years down the line have mended their ways too, like the case of the guy in America who was in gangs and ended up killing someone but had wrote books warning people on the dangers on getting involved in gangs, he ended up being executed but there was a lot of public support for him and they obviously felt he had become a reformed character and should be spared the death penalty.

Overally my main reasons for not wanting it back are because it's an easy way out and I really do not agree with the taking of another person's life even though they have killed someone else or commited another heinous crime, it's just not setting a good example in my book, that's just more along the lines of retribution.Let them have a hard life and face up to what they have done is my view.
