Wife Swap \'sexual assault\' crisis
Quote:
WIFE Swap bosses were locked in crisis talks yesterday following a claim of sexual assault by a female participant.
The woman, who swapped places with pampered Noelie Klineberg, forced chiefs to halt filming after she made the complaint to cops.
Sources at show producers RDF revealed she and her husband had refused to continue shooting the Channel 4 hit.
And bosses were yesterday meeting to decide whether to bin the episode — leaving the production company potentially £180,000 out of pocket.
An RDF insider admitted: “We will most likely have to scrap the episode. We stopped filming because the couple wouldn’t take part any longer.”
The woman allegedly attacked had swapped places with 36- year-old Noelie to live with her millionaire fiancé Robin Goforth in Doncaster, South Yorks.
They were supposed to spend ten days together. But filming stopped halfway through after the woman claimed she had been attacked by a pal of 58-year-old Robin.
The woman at the centre of the claims was last night in hiding under police protection.
She refused to answer the door at her plush five-bedroom detached home. Meanwhile the man accused of assault insisted: “The whole thing is bizarre.
“There is no way I’d do anything like that to any lady. Something has supposed to have happened in the bar of my friend’s house, but it’s complete rubbish.
“There were about seven other people in the room, including my son, his girlfriend and a film crew. To suggest I did anything improper is a complete lie.
“I believe I am a gentleman and I acted like a gentleman.”
Robin said: “Nothing was said at the time about sexual misconduct. The woman mentioned it next day, 24 hours later.
“I honestly didn’t know what she was talking about. I am certain that nothing happened. I was there all the time and nothing happened that I saw.”
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said last night: “It would not be appropriate for me to comment on this matter.”
Channel 4 said: “We are aware of allegations made by a Wife Swap contributor against someone she met during the swap. We’re unable to comment further.”
Noelie and Robin — who owns fishing lakes and a string of filling stations — have already appeared on TV. In May, they offered viewers a peek at their swanky mock-Tudor mansion on ITV1’s Flash Families.
Robin showed off his fleet of 30 cars, while Noelie told how she had spent £30,000 on plastic surgery, including a boob job and a facelift. The couple told how they spent £200 per outfit for their dogs. It was after this they signed up for Wife Swap, whose seventh series is due next year.
The sex assault allegation is not Wife Swap’s first incident.
Producers were famously forced to cut short an edition featuring loudmouthed Rochdale housewife Lizzie Bardsley.
Lizzie, married to hubby Mark, pulled out after only three days’ filming, accusing her opposite number Emma Spry of being a “marriage-wrecker”.
And Celebrity Wife Swap failed to take off after only TWO stars agreed to take part. Big Brother’s Jade Goody and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? cheat Charles Ingram appeared in the only ever episode.
