Default Text con on Big Brother Fans

From the Scottish Daily Record

A TEXT message scam is conning Big Brother fans out of cash.

The note - which says the recipient has won £10,000 or a £150 voucher - claims to be from the makers of the show, won last week by Orkney fish trader Cameron Stout.

But premium phoneline watchdog ICSTIS are probing it after programme chiefs warned it was nothing to do with them.

The text starts with the words "Big Brother Alert" and gives a claims number to ring - a £1.50-a-minute call which eventually reveals there are no real prizes.

A Big Brother spokesman said: "This promotion has absolutely nothing to do with any official Big Brother service from Channel 4 or its sponsor, O2.

"As soon as we became aware of it we contacted ICSTIS, who are investigating on our behalf.

"They have the power to stop such activity and fine the perpetrators."

So - if you get one of these texts - DON'T answer it. You've been warned!
