Ever feel you've been cheated?

Fame Academy is based on the idea that the
voting public can make an ordinary person's
dreams come true. But it's a lie. Most of the
contestants this year are seasoned professionals
who have been placed on the show by record
labels who've already signed them.

Of the first entries to Fame Academy, Louise
Griffiths sang backing vocals for Girls Aloud,
Al Griffen is signed to Trevor Horn's Perfect
Songs, and Carolynne Good is signed to BMG.

Other ringers include Nathan Thomas (a Univeral
signing, who wrote Another Lover for Dane Bowers),
Nicole Davis (signed with BMG publishing),
Janee Bennett (signed to Windswept Pacific Music)
and Mark Vallance (who is writing songs for 19 Music)

Britain's cynical music industry is using the
show as a focus group for their new acts, with the
whole thing paid for by gullible voters (and of
course everyone who pays a BBC license fee).

I'm not sure about any of that cc. I did see some of them on RI:SE this week and they said it was all rubbish.

Even if some of it is true, they don't have to be novices. Nigel was a professional singer last year, David had done lots of TV and was in a band, Ainslie was in a band which had toured the states etc.

I think it's meant to help them develop and increase their chances of fame, if they have the 'X' factor.

I think they missed out on someone with it in spades last week in Ladonna, but such is the voting public, sadly.

Pop Idol is enough we don't need Fame Academy, and the fact both programmes will be screened on the same day makes it farcical. And I only like Pop Idol to see the tone-deaf contestants get roasted by Simom Cowell.

I couldn't care less about both of em. bring back Abba, or any other pop group that just appears with a bit of talent. Without me or anyone having to shell out for a vote, now that's thought.
