Default The Voice results shows to be pre-recorded and broadcast on Sundays

Quote:
The Voice to launch Sunday results show

A slot between ratings winners Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow could pull in a valuable new audience

After beating Saturday night rival Britain’s Got Talent in the ratings war in recent weeks, BBC1’s The Voice will try to press its advantage with a Sunday night results show as part of the live stages.

The Battles rounds take place this weekend – with coaches will.i.am, Tom Jones, Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue each weeding out half of their ten-strong teams across Saturday and Sunday. And the pattern of both Saturday and Sunday instalments will continue into the live shows that begin the following weekend.

The first live show will begin on Saturday 28 April at 7pm, running for 90 minutes. The first results show, in which the public vote will save three acts from each competing team before the coaches choose one of their remaining two acts to leave the competition, will broadcast the following day. Only two of the teams will compete in the first live show, with the second two teams performing the next weekend.

The results programme will air in a 35-minute slot from 7:25pm between Sunday night ratings winners Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow, with BBC bosses hoping to add some of that audience to the existing 10 million plus who already watch the Saturday show.

Terrible, terrible move. Cue results spoilers all over Twitter and the rest of the internet.

It might work for Strictly, but for a show that's essentially supposed to be rivalling the X Factor and it's live Sunday night one hour results shows, this is a completely bizarre scheduling decision. Not to mention the fact that it's sandwiched in between two shows that couldn't be further apart from the age demographic that The Voice is targeted at.

I'd have rather have had a Saturday night live results show if they couldn't accommodate/afford a Sunday one. Disappointed.

what's the point in that? it'll only reduce viewer counts, people won't bother watching if they know who goes especially if it's a 'meh' contestant

It will leak so easily...They presumably will have a live audience, thats nearly 800 people who will know... considering that "one insider" is able to leak it to a country, its obviously going to spread with 800

BBC cutting corners again; not wanting to spend money. Its sad for all the reasons already posted. They cant rivalX-Factor like this?

As I thought...was a very disappointing show tonight. And I knew Sophie was going before it was announced as I saw a spoiler on Twitter.

I honestly think they've made a terrible mistake, there was something missing tonight, for starters it didn't last long enough and the fact that you could tell it wasn't live, for me, took most of the suspense out of it. From a production point of view I still think X Factor and BGT have the upper hand of this show.

I did think though, perhaps one of the reasons (though not the main one) they've opted to pre-record is because Reggie simply can't take six weeks off the Official Chart on Radio 1. He has enough time off that show as it is already, can't see him being able to accommodate that and travelling to the studio within 25 minutes.
