To be honest, those sort of ratings are very typical for this time of year and it's been that way since 2009. Anything below 7.5m, though, would be very poor. It's the share that's more important in the spring and summer and it really shouldn't be going below 35%. The ratings and shares can be a lot better, but I suppose we'll have to settle for those for now.

Aye, Thursdays has always been weak for ratings, on top of that, the pacing is all out of wack with three episodes stuck at one end of the week

i would just like to point out someone saying something negative about EE - as redway you asked on the other thread - why do i always moan ? because it is rubbish and this is more proof.

No, it isn't proof. I'm extremely negative about EastEnders right now, you should know that, but the ratings are still pretty decent. I hate the show right now, but the ratings are all right.

In fact, the equivalent day 2010 had 8.1m (39%) - check page 4 of this thread. That is only a drop of 0.3m and 2010 had the biggest ratings rise since the records began in 2002.

Exactly. When someone chooses to ignore the facts and make false assumptions based on pleothas upon pleathos of abortive traits and objective statements that are actually false, it's very difficult to take that person seriously, let alone have a debate with him or her. Listen, you said that EastEnders is very poor right now (with which I agree), but you used the viewing figures as one piece of evidence to support your argument. I pointed out to you that the ratings are fine, which works to my advantage and your disadvantage, so what now? Does this prove to you that the current quality at least is subjective and not what you (of all people) say it is?

Joe, you used the ratings to support your argument and now you've been proven wrong you don't care about the numbers? What is the point in starting an argument based on a supporter to your argument and then when you're proven wrong you brush it off and say you don't care? Oh, well. Wasted enough of my time on this. Goodbye.

Anyway, more on this week, Coronation Street should get right boosters from BGT. Not sure about the other soaps, though. EastEnders in particular will suffer. 4.9m (19%) tonight, I reckon.

D'you know what, you guys are just too much. Anyway, BGT was what I had in mind. Now I'm fluctuating between Embarrassing Bodies and Only Fools and Horses.

OK, after a long wait (sorry, guys), here you go:

Monday 7 May 2012

Coronation Street topped the soap ratings on Monday evening (May 7) with the launch of its heavily-promoted 'Big Week', overnight figures show.

Coronation Street pulled in 8.7m (33.2%) at 9pm and 363k (1.8%) on +1 as Terry, Tommy and Tina faced trouble with loan shark Rick Neelan.

EastEnders, meanwhile, slipped to 5.56m (21.7%) at 7.30pm against tough competition from the second Britain's Got Talent live show. However, BBC Three's repeat screening had a strong 1.08m (5.3%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.58m (29.3%) at 7pm as Declan carried on interfering in Megan's personal life, adding 175k (0.7%) on timeshift.

I just copied and pasted from Digital Spy, as I haven't got the time right now to synthesise information.
