I was just looking at the debate section and bloody hell it makes for depressing reading! So heres a pleasant story i randomly became aware of a couple of weeks ago due to the randomness of the internet i ended up reading the blog of a young girl from scotland who started a blog of her school dinners.
She would take a picture of her dinner every day and rate it for taste, healthiness and price etc (they look better than the dinners i had to endure as a kid) well the blog was a huge success racking up millions of views from across the world and so kids from around the world started to send pictures of their school dinners to compare. so she put a link for a charity asking for donations for starving children in the world and she has raised over £54,000 for those less fortunate in six weeks. Amazing work but the newspapers started with headlines such as "time to sack our dinnerladies" and named the girl and her school and her school promptly banned her from blogging and threatened to expel her. Well common sense has being seen and the decision overturned she is free to continue her blog and raising amazing amounts of money. I just thought it was a great story and amazing for a nine year old to raise so much money for those less fortunate her blog is a good read too and i wanted to post a positive thread in this depressing part of the board too. blog: http://neverseconds.blogspot.co.uk/ reports: http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/15/30...an-reversal-uk http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/...?newsfeed=true Last edited by billy123; 16-06-2012 at 02:55 AM. |

Yeah, there was a thread on this a while back.
Good news though as before it really was fantastic to see them promoting revoked freedom of speech and expression rights to a nine year old. |
