A prankster in Warwickshire has bizarrely decided to hoist a Reliant Robin onto the branch of an oak tree.



Residents and canal users in Warwickshire were left scratching their heads after coming across the three-wheeled vehicle perched 15ft in the air.

While some observers believed it was either a political statement or the work of an artist, it was actually placed in the tree by car enthusiast Gregan Thompson 'for a laugh'.

The classic car racer needed its engine to place in another vehicle, leaving the 54-year-old unsure what to do with its fibreglass shell.

After much debate, Thompson decided to put it in the tree in Preston Bagot with the help of three friends.

He explained: 'It was a spur of the moment decision to put it in the tree. My friends thought I was mad but they still agreed to help.

'We tried a lawnmower at first to hoist it up with some ropes and the four of us pulling it but it obviously wasn't going to work.

'But we got it up there eventually using a Vauxhall Vectra. It took about an hour-and-a-half. We were shattered by the end of it but it was completely worth it.'

He continued: 'I have had lots of people asking is it trying to be modern art but it's really not.

'I really just put it up there for the hell of it. It's really only people on the canal who see I and you hear the odd comment of "what on earth is that doing there?"

'People look up and expect to see Grandad out of Only Fools and Horses peering out the back.'

Boat user Gemma Collins added: 'Judging by where it is and how it looks I thought it looked like it was put there as some sort of statement. That, or the work of a Only Fools and Horses fan.'
