Maybe he just doesn't like football?

I'd rather shop than watch a English game but if it was Celtic playing I'd obviously rather watch that

As someone else mentioned he was ranting on during his time in the task room (when deciding whether or not to watch nominations) about the England game, Luke S is playing to the gallery with this one.

No, I'm not into gender stereotypes but assume Luke S is judging by his behaviour around Ashleigh. That's why HIM making that comment would be in HIS mind gaining favours with some voters. Not my perceptions but my perceptions from his point of view.

Yes his doing it to get the female vote as which guy in there right mind would prefer to go shopping instead of watching the Football? ones entertaining and the other one lasts several hours.

If I recall correctly LukeS and Conor went into the DR and asked if there was anything they could do to watch the Euro finals. BB said: 'yes, you can get evicted!' It was deffo two of the three muscleteers anyways.

Yes and he has definately spoken about the Euros a few times...so he is not totally disinterested, so to answer the OP question, the answer is yes it was said as a vote winning exercise.
