Default BBC Citizen Khan gets storm of complaints

"Heavily made-up girl in a hijab provokes storm of complaints as BBC is accused of insulting Muslims with new sitcom Citizen Khan
Viewers say the programme 'takes the mickey out of Islam' and is guilty of 'stereotypes about Asians'
Comedy series follows the fortunes of a Muslim community leader
BBC1 show was watched by 3.6million viewers"

"Provocative: The programme's British Muslim creator
Adil Ray (second from left) stands with
co-stars Bavna Limbachia (left),
Maya Sondhi (second from right)
and Shobu Kapoor (right)

Criticism: One viewer wrote on the
BBC's messageboard that the
show was 'terrible stereotyping, ignorant and just dreadful"

I viewed a clip and it was Not Funny.
Also it was on Late
Why could they not show it at 8:30PM?

I bet if you walked into a typical Muslim family they'd be exactly like this show, even though I've never seen either.

Some may like it
but other Muslims

saying:
'terrible stereotyping, ignorant and just dreadful'

The BBC shows it at 10:20PM on Mondays.
So they do not want young children watching it.

Its meant to be a Comedy
but its not funny - thats the problem.

It was not funny at all. The thing is, a lot of comedies are based on stereotypes, so I don't really see the need to complain. Some may find it funny. People complain about anything and everything these days. It's a fictitious family comprised of fictitious characters in a fictitious situation. Or am I missing something?

It had its moments but I found the protagonist a bit shouty and forced. Don't be surprised by this; people complain about everything
