Lana Del Rey has debuted a live cover of 'Heart-Shaped Box'.

The singer performed the Nirvana classic during a show at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney last night (July 26) - scroll down to watch her performance.

'Heart-Shaped Box' was originally released as the first single from Nirvana's third studio album 'In Utero'. Released in August 1993, it reached Number Five on the UK singles chart.

Del Rey's cover replaces the grunge sound of the original with her usual twangy guitars and sweeping strings and receives a whoop of recognition from the Sydney crowd.

Del Rey has previously spoken about the impact the song had on her when she was growing up. Speaking to a radio station at the end of last year (2011), she said: "When I was 11, I saw Kurt Cobain singing 'Heart Shaped Box' on MTV and it really stopped me dead in my tracks. I thought he was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. Even at a young age, I really related to his sadness."

Lana was awarded the 'Woman Of The Year' award at the GQ Men Of The Year awards yesterday. Go her!

The magazine said Del Rey was a "true pop star in her own right".

Other highlights in 2012 for Del Rey include writing a screenplay, starring in a video alongside hyped rapper A$AP Rocky, winning International Breakthrough Act at the Brti Awards, and reportedly dating both Marilyn Manson and Axl Rose.

GQ also named Robbie Williams its Icon of the Year, Aaron Sorkin its Writer of the Year, Sir Tom Jones Legend of the Year and gave Bradley Wiggins its Lifetime Achievement award.

It is unlikely they will release Blue Velvet separately from Born to Die: Paradise Edition that is coming out in November

I was wrong. Blue Velvet is Officially released. It is quite nice

There is also a video for it. Just an extended version of the h&m ad but still cool. I cant see it charting or anything though I think it is deserving of it.
