This is such a forgettable line up of contestants. The only one I like is Melanie but I don't rate her chances highly because she's not a teenage boyband, unfortunately for her
Union J, District3, MK1 and Carolynne were all pretty bad. Union J and District3 were the worst offenders. Was it Union J who had the song choice that even Louis admitted was terrible? If so, then they'll go before District3, because Louis is a **** mentor who favours one of his three acts over the other two and neglects them. Always. MK1, the girl sang out of tune the whole time but the guy's rapping was alright so I think that might tide them over. Both boybands sucked hard.
Carolynne, what a crock of **** that song choice was, I think it was a very poor attempt at appealing to a younger audience. The point of Starships is that it's a bonkers nonsense song that's fun to dance to. Singing it as a country ballad just emphasises what a silly song it is, lyrically, and makes her look stupid, irrespective of her talent. Kye I thought was really forgettable and I think he was out of tune when he started singing - but the standard of his competition is even worse so I think he might end up going reasonably far. Melanie was the only one that I liked, she's a very good singer but I'm worried she'll become a one trick pony, or that the judges will make comments implying as much. Christopher I completely forgot about until I went to post this so I'm just adding him in here now - utter tripe, I think he'll be out either this week or next, there's a reason he didn't get put through!
James Arthur's song choice was hilariously bad and I didn't like his rendition at all. Jahmene I find really irritating and I didn't like his rendition of Imagine. Rylan isn't actually a bad singer at all but, typically, they just had to put in one camp novelty act, didn't they? I actually feel sorry for him, he's being turned into a joke and he's not even a bad singer - it's like Wagner all over again - the guy could actually sing really well (and I have video evidence to prove it, I saw him sing at a venue near me for free after he was voted off) but they just camped him up and turned him into a joke.
Lucy Spraggan's song was actually really good lyrically, but I find her delivery annoying and I think she'll be the Diana Vickers/Cher Lloyd/Janet Devlin character of this series - the outright favourite before the show starts and then her polarising style will backfire and she'll finish 4th/5th. You can just see it now, can't you? Jade Ellis was pretty forgettable, I don't imagine she's going to do too well in this but good luck to her, she seems like a reasonably good singer. It's a bit laughable how they're styling her to look like Rita Ora though. Ella Henderson's probably the other favourite in the competition but I can't stand her either. I don't like how they keep raving on about how she's "only sixteen!!!" to try and garner sympathy votes or whatever. She's a good singer but she really gets on my nerves and I am just not here for hearing ballad upon ballad from her every week. We get it, you have a sob story, wish the show would stop with this bull****.
