that means those people helped kelly clarkson right the song so its still her song and she made it famous

The writers of that song will be getting a percentage of the profits made by this single, as they gave the rites to Simon Cowell to produce this song under Leona.

Why should Kelly get any money from Leona's singing? Kelly has done nothing towards Leona's singing career, whereas the song choice has.

Clearly not.

Kelly didn't write the song, she had no choice in which song was chosen. If anyone else had won, they would also be singing that song.

It was the Pop Idol 'machine' that made the song famous. It would have become famous no matter who won.

It is NOT her song. She just recorded and released it.
Simon and the people who produced it are the ones who own it as they chose it for AI, so he (Simon) could legally give it to Leona.

Exactly. If it was written for Leona (without Kelly being in the equation) - it still would've been famous. It has the worlds biggest marketing campaign behind it.

Not only does she not deserve the money, but she's not legally obliged to receive any money from it.
