Default council estates

What dp ypu think of council estates? Do you live on one? Would you?
Ever been on one? What are your experiences?

Grew up on one, lived there until I was 9 and I actually loved it. I like how they look, the less scummy ones. I know it's weird because it's small and right on top of others but I always liked how they look with everyone on their balconies in the summer talking to each other and stuff.

Mine was...tall, and dodgy but the dodgy people were always lovely to us because my mum was a single mother working full time and I was frankly an adorable child.

I have only happy memories there because it was my first home, so yeah I'm looking through very rose tinted glasses but most aren't as bad as people make out. They're not the best place to live though.

They're mostly ok round here apart from a few notorious ones. The main problems I've found is families often 'run' the estate and make it very hard for people they don't like to live there. Also kids and young teens can be a problem. Some Taxis won't go to an Estate in my city because they're always getting bricked, same with some buses. All in all I'd say it's a minority that spoil it for the majority.

I've never lived in one, but I've been to a few. Mainly to buy drugs in my younger days.

I'm not really bothered about where someone lives, or how much money they do/don't have. I prefer people rather than addresses.

I lived on one in Salford for a while..if you are born there etc it's fine, everyone looks out or everyone. Not so good if you move on there as a stranger (I lived with boyfriend who was from there so it was ok). The whole look of one is pretty grim and depressing but I had no problems and was very happy there...we bought a house in a different area but would have been ok staying there too.....there was a very "local" atmosphere, everyone knew everyone and there weren't many problems. Few dodgy characters but you find them everywhere.

I've never lived on a council estate, but I have friends who did when we were kids. My impression of them is that they're mostly populated by decent, hard-working, working class families who's lives are affected and the impression of them somewhat marred by a handful of scumbag families who it seems are allowed to run riot.

I live on a council estate, luckily i'm in a good area on the main road, but I know some of the back roads are a bit rough.

Never had any trouble though, never been burgled etc.. theres been a few drugs raids recently though and summers are always a bit noisy with families blasting the latest NOW cd

I've lived in the same council estate my whole life but it's not one of those tall tower blocky ones. I'd say it's a beautiful area although they're planning to demolish everything now :|

Used to be so proud and always wanna "Rep" for the estate back in the day thinking it made me certified or some ****(I was foolish). Crazy it takes a few incidents to change your perception. I would be lying If I said it's provided me with happy memories now, but it's helped mature me quickly and shape me into the person I am today and the Man I will hopefully be in 5 years or so.

In an ideal world I get to move the whole family somewhere nice, but that's just a dream really.
