He knows what people are thinking. People are thinking he betrayed his core voters in order to take a seat in government. The LibDems are even more unpopular than the Tories at the moment. This is a desperate but doomed attempt to win back LibDem supporters. I can't think what his advisors are thinking, frankly.

At least he is attempting to connect with the electorate not alienate them.
Maybe he will discover that those currently unemployed are not the scourge that tory ministers would have everyone believe? Or that the public don't want the NHS dissolved? He can go and tell dave then, as I don't think he knows....

I think it's an admirable thing to do. However, if he was more popular than syphilis he wouldn't be doing this, so it's all about motives.
How can the supposedly liberal LD's end up in a coalition with right wing conservatives? It was a move that never made any sense, and was all about a seat in power. I think there should be more contact between the people and political leaders. Cameron and any other PM should be forced in front of the people they mainly see as ticks on a spreadsheet, and explain to them the benefits and thinking behind policy decisions. Question time with the 3 main political leaders. Once a month, or once a quarter - something like that. |

What a desperate clown this man has become. Clearly now fearing the day when all who voted for his sorry party last time will get their votes refunded at last and be able to cast them elsewhere.
I will have to try to get through to him but it would be a case of more what I wanted to tell him than ask him to do. Pointless to ask him anything anyway, whatever he says to the voters is a world away from what he will do once a Ministerial post and share of Govt is on offer. Furthermore, in my opinion after all he said last time and what he's done since, he has likely little political credibility or integrity left anyway. I certainly will never believe a word he says again. |

Desparate times call for desparate measures, when you sell your soul (and your Party) to the Devil its hard to claw back any respectibility. I think this is a last ditch attempt to try and connect with some of his disgruntled voters in a bid to explain the actions of the Lib Dems in the last 2-3 years and try and build some political capital going forward.
The old adage "beware of what you wish for" could not have been better demonstrated than with Nick Clegg.................!!! |
