It was.........OK-ish.
Thing is, because Joe Cocker did this absolutely mind-blowing performance of it at Woodstock, it is thought as a 'classic'.
What those who record it as a 'poppy' number forget is that it was originally written for Ringo to 'sing'. Ergo it is a bit bland and undemanding, as are Octupus's Garden and Yellow Submarine.
Joe Cocker blew them away with his interpretation..........I can only imagine 6 year olds in fairy frocks jumping around at a party to Mark and Sam.
But heigh-ho, it will sell a few records, and we do have to think about Pete's pension I suppose.
