Default Jessops Closed Down Fully - Peter Jones buys just the brand

This is sad news
but the bank that owns half of it
wants to close them down

Much in their stores is High Priced
so this was on the cards, sadly.

Our only pro camera shop.

It's sad... but unless everyone stops buying their stuff online, this is going to keep happening.

I know, it's a shame. Councils don't help though... my local town charges a fortune to park your car, so everyone goes to the big supermarkets instead of going to the high street. It's a really lovely little market town too and it is, like you say, dying.

Just what 2,000 people need to hear post Christmas. Another sad day for retail.

The High St will never die completely not whilst we women still have the urge to go out and shop. And shopping is one of the strongest female urges second only to.......

I do wish HMV would give itself a kick up the backside. It has no identity any more and has lost it's way for a long time now. Many years ago, you could find exclusives, imports and a vast array of independents. Sadly, it mainly now seems to stock the same as other retailers out there, only the others are doing it cheaper.

Administrators say camera chain Jessops is to close all its 187 stores with the loss of 1,370 jobs.

Never went in there so I can't be particularly upset, but it's never good to see another big business die.

From SkyNewsHD

Outside a Jessops
the Staff were sad it closed but more
upset about people who have Photos to collect
and one customer paid Ł500 for a lens
he will get none of it.

Its Now Closed and staff no longer have keys.

Dragons' Den investor Peter Jones buys Jessops brand

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/new...#ixzz2JdDkNMpT

So he buys just the brand
I bet they gave it dirt cheap - just one of the Vultures.

[Rob Hunt, joint administrator at PwC said the business is being broken up: ‘We can confirm that we have sold the brand and certain other assets to a number of buyers including entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE.’ ]
