Hadouken's music video for their new single 'Levitate' has become an instant online hit.
The band's clip, which is a compilation of extreme stunts titled 'People Are Awesome 2013', has picked up almost 500,000 views since it was unveiled yesterday. The group tweeted: "mind = blown, the new video has had nearly 370,000 views in 24 hours! massive thanks to all who shared!" The visual serves as the follow-up to their first 'People Are Awesome' video, which has gained 55 million views since its release in 2010. 'Levitate' trails their third studio album Every Weekend, which is released on February 18 through the band's label Surface Noise Recordings. The LP will have ten tracks, including previous singles 'Parasite' and 'Bad Signal'. Hadouken! recently announced a headline tour of the UK for 2013, playing ten shows around the country in April. I really hate when artists eschew original video content in favor of viral happy stock footage of people doing lovely things. It's so lazy and pandering. And groups of people gathered around YouTube will always suggest it at a party as something to put on - somewhere between Outkast and Daft Punk - because it's such an awe inspiring original and unoffensive choice everyone in the room will enjoy.
And Hadouken! are embarrassing anyway. It's walking to Tesco to buy your Pot Noodle music. Shiny, shit and defeatist. |
