I do agree, Deano was a good decent bloke, but I do fear he still takes himself a wee bit too seriously.

The comment about being one of the few to be able to do 'joined up thinking' is a bit precious. I suspect they were all capable of doing joined up thinking, but most just decided that as they weren't in to do research for a PhD they might as well have fun.

I also think that most of them showed a caring side, and a few others didn't flex their intellectual credentials because there wasn't a need to.

When he is my age he will realise that all that really matters about sharing the company of someone else is that they are good unpretentious people, and they are pleasant to be with.

BUT, I do like Dean, I do.
