Like I said, we're equal but I'd still save the human. It wouldn't feel right to save an animal. I know that's contradictory but that's the issue here. We are equal but there's just something ingrained in us that makes the large majority want to save our own. I guess that's all it is...an inherent loyalty to our kind.

But clearly we do accept that there is hierarchy in the animal world, even if you take humans out of it we value the lives of some animals over others and do give cats and dog a much superior position than spiders or ants or also the likes of pigs and cows. I don't think we are equal because there's such
huge biological, genetic, physical, and intellectual difference across all the different species
