Most but not all ammunition still comes in metallic forms, the ceramic type are very expensive but not unobtainable.

I don't see how a terrorist would do much damage with this. if you can only get 1 shot off before you have to reload.

That being said, i'm sure that someone will design a printable gun that can fire multiple rounds eventually. This is just the first version of it.

Really? It only takes one man to pull the trigger and one round to lets say assassinate a world leader. If you cant see how just one round(bullet) can change world history or affect things then you don't know much about history.

Who says a terrorist or nutter would not carry more than one?

Funny old thing though, sometimes terrorists don't act alone, they act in groups, it .wasn't one man per plane at 9-11!

well i suppose someone could hypothetically carry 30 of these things, but that doesn't seem very practical.

especially when you could just buy a pressure cooker.

You could probably do more damage with a machete in a large crowd, just slashing away with a sharp machete at people in a crowd than you could with one of these single shot plastic guns.

People that want to commit terrorist attacks will always find a way. That doesn't mean we should take away more civil liberties though.

Without intimate body searches of everyone entering any sensitive areas, how can you ensure someone doesnt have one on them?

Think about it, eventually one day, some terrorist group or some criminal gang will recruit a boy genius who may develop this sort of thing, but throwing the plans out on the internet for anyone to use is lets say a little irresponsible.

The blueprint used to produce a 3D-printed plastic gun has been downloaded about 100,000 times since going online earlier this week, according to Forbes.

Defense Distributed told the news site it was surprised by the amount of interest its Liberator gun had generated.

According to Defense Distributed, most of the 100,000 downloads have been in the US, followed by Spain, Brazil, Germany and the UK.

The blueprint has also been uploaded to file-sharing site the Pirate Bay, where it has become the most popular file in the site's 3D-printing category.

While downloading the blueprints will not be illegal, in many countries owning a firearm is.

Presumably, illegal manufacture will now be in progress ....

I worry that because it's plastic and a funny shape it really does look like a toy gun, so kids would be more likely to play with it. They really should make it look more like a real handgun.
