Tony Blair representative denies Wendi Deng affair

Tony Blair's representative has denied supposed rumours that the former Prime Minister is having an affair with Rupert Murdoch's estranged wife Wendi Deng.

The 82-year-old News Corporation boss announced yesterday (June 13) that he and Deng, 44, would be divorcing after 14 years of marriage.





When contacted by The Hollywood Reporter, Blair's representative said: "If you are asking if they are having an affair, the answer is no."

The spokesperson added that Blair, who is godfather to Murdoch and Deng's two children, would not make any public comment on the couple's divorce proceedings.

BBC business editor Robert Peston has said on Twitter that he was "told that undisclosed reasons for Murdoch divorcing Deng are jaw-dropping".

During his testimony to the Leveson inquiry into media ethics in May 2012, Blair maintained that no grand deal had been struck with Murdoch over media policy, though he admitted an "unhealthy" relationship evolved between the press and politicians.
