No problem, I must have spent hours on that website searching through all the houses. It's like watching thousands of grand designs episodes but cut straight to the ending with all the boring building bits removed.

..I'm a huge Grand Designs fan, Richard..I like the building part as well and seeing it all grow and especially when it all goes wrong as well..some of them are so hugely over budget, but once you start something like that, then I guess you can't really stop as you've already invested everything so it has to work out..I think my dream would be to have a 'grand design' in France out in the country with a vineyard and just not much else..I love looking through pics of amazing houses as well...

Having watched so many episodes i've become obsessed with the idea of building my own 'grand design' too. I can't imagine it ever being possible though, the price of land alone here in the UK is ridiculous. No idea how anyone manages to afford it, you'd have to be mega rich. I like your idea though, and considering how cheap you can buy some property over in France it would probably be the most reasonable option.

I'd better get saving my pocket money...

..haha, yeah you might need to ask for an increase in that pocket money..land is a silly price here and then the cost of the build is a lot as well unless you can do most of it yourself..I have some friends who converted an old barn, which they mostly did themselves or with the help of family/friends so the cost was quite low and it was amazing when it was finished..they were just a young couple starting off and sold it for around 4 times what it cost them and they won't ever have to have a mortgage again because of that, but not everyone can do that..France is a good option though because the land is much cheaper or there are so many old houses and chateaus to renovate and I watched a Grand Design last week where a couple built an eco house and apparently you don't have the same planning regulations as here..if it falls down then that's your problem...LOL, I love the French.....

Me too, I always feel like I was born in the wrong country! That being said, trying to learn the language for my gcse was a nightmare so maybe it's a good job that I was...
My two favourite countries are France and Japan, i'd happily pack up and move to either if there wasn't the obvious language barrier (especially in japan, they don't even use the alphabet! they use symbols! ). I was in Paris last week and was so sad when we left that I spent the entirety of the next day in bed watching 'Midnight in Paris' on repeat.

..aww, I love France as well Richard..how lucky that you've just got back from Paris..I'm not the best at languages either but I think in general we're not really good at languages in this country compared to other Europeans..I'm fascinated by Japan as well and think it would be an amazing place to visit although I'm not great at flying, especially long haul flights, so I don't know if I would ever actually get there..have you been to Japan..?...

My friend was meant to be travelling the west coast of America and stay in a treehouse hostel in California. She had to cancel the trip but she showed me the pictures of the accommodation, it was really cool !
