I wonder how the law works in the USA. I mean, as far as I'm aware, in the UK, if someone is a danger to themselves, they can be 'forced' to get help by the courts. Can't her family do something to help her? Can't they go to court to request that she be sectioned and treated? I know it's not the best plan in the world, but rather that than have her end up in the morgue.

It's such a tragic shame. She is just a young woman with 2 kids, and the media are having a field day with her troubles. It's just a pity that those who do care about her can't actually do anything to make sure she stays in the mental health facilities and gets the help she so badly needs.
