Ice Skating Show Goes On
Updated: 12:44, Tuesday March 06, 2007

ITV is confident that the semi-final of Dancing On Ice will go ahead as planned on Saturday despite the investigation into its phone-ins.

An independent review of premium-rate services across ITV channels has been launched after it emerged that X Factor viewers had been overcharged £200,000 in an interactive vote blunder.

The error - affecting 1.3 million votes - occurred during every live show in the last series.

Viewers who voted for their favourite contestant by pressing the red button on their remote controls should have been charged 35p.

Instead the calls cost 50p, making ITV an extra £200,000. The blunder came to light during a company audit.

ITV said the next edition of Dancing On Ice would only return at the weekend if its phone-in procedures had been shown to be sound.

But programme officials said they were confident the show would pass any scrutiny.

John Cresswell, chief operating officer of ITV plc, said: "The interactive elements in each programme will be reintroduced as they are independently signed off.

"We expect the review of current programmes to be both swift and thorough."

ITV Play, This Morning and Loose Women have also been affected by the probe.
