Yeah I know what you mean but I don't think it is the first time they have tried this ..

olice are understood to be looking at two previous raids in Greater Manchester to see if they may be linked to the same criminal gang.
Thieves dug a 100ft tunnel to steal cash from an ATM in Fallowfield in January 2012
The Eccles Tesco tunnel raid is the third time a 'mole gang' has targeted cash machines in Greater Manchester over recent years.

Police are understood to be looking at the two previous raids to see if they may be linked to the same criminal group.

In August 2007, a gang dug a 40 ft tunnel in an apparent attempt to reach a branch of Blockbuster in the Fallowfield shopping precinct.

The tunnel was discovered by workmen when it was just 15 ft short of its target, which was assumed to be an ATM machine.

Builders accidentally broke through into the tunnel during some work on electric cabling and alerted police. The building was filled in with concrete to prevent it from being used.

But the tunnellers were not caught and four-and-a-half years later , in January 2012, there was a successful underground raid on the same store.

This time the thieves dug a 100ft tunnel under a busy car park and drilled through 15 inches of concrete before stealing thousands of pounds from the Blockbuster ATM.

But is breaking into a Tesco comparable to a *******ing bank?

Isn't that like saying if you can pick locks, you could break into Buckingham Palace?

not at all
i just meant that's a serious lot of effort and planning for a good but smallish amount in the great scheme of things. they must be capable of aiming higher. for the risk if they are willing to plan that well.

its like people who rob stores with shotguns or banks and get £100 lol aim a little higher as the price is the same.
or people who shoplift in pound stores lol why

They might be kleptomaniacs?

I can see Hollywood coming in for the Mole Gang. I'd hazard a guess there are only 2 of them, maybe father and son.

...it's thought by the police that the Tesco one was inspired by this so they do have an association, Arista...

Who said that's the inspiration? They have been trying these heists for years....there's lots of films etc from years ago where people dig tunnels to rob things /escape.

Oh and that's a seriously sexist thing to say too

..sadly, you're right Arista..as soon as games graphics went 3D, my gaming skills started to deteriorate...I guess these robberies are narrowed down to males then, great detective work there...
