I'm hoping she's just "retiring" in the way Jay-Z and Cher "retired"... in other words, she's taking a year off and then she'll be back for season's 6-10.

Freak shows were pretty horrific if you check out the history on them. people with physical and mental disabilities were horribly exploited and tortured back then... Disowned by their families, and rejected by society, often they had no where else to turn to to survive, so they were basically slaves to the Ring Leaders. Stuck in that dehumanizing and miserable existence.

I think it could be a pretty amazing season if done properly.

Would be nice to see a heavier male presence in this season. While this is one show that has a fantastic range of actresses this season really needs a lot of men and diverse characters so it doesn't become Coven Pt.2. I hope they could manage to get Zachary Quinto back. James Cromwell would also be PERFECT for this!

I don't think I'm a fan of the title either. Carnival or Circus would have been fine... it's like they saw the fan posters and went "oh no we cannot name it Circus or Carnival as it looks like we're copying fans". But that's just a little nitpick.

Unfortunately you must sacrifice quantity for quality. AHS always has so many characters that it does feel like it moves too quickly and you never get to enjoy every character as much as you'd like. Sometimes you barely see a character for weeks at a time because they are focusing on the other story lines.

Perhaps they should move to a more Lost-esque method, where each episode tries to focus on just one character for the entire episode... i feel they flirt with that idea, but it does feel a bit disjointed the way you can have 1 character really focused on in episode 3, but then not hear anything about that character again for 5 episodes...

It really is the kind of show that is best watched in a box set way. Total binge-watch material. I watched Asylum in binge-watch mode watched the first 6 in one sitting, then the second 6 in 1 sitting. and i loved it. I watched Coven in real time, and i found it less enjoyable.

I've only watched 3 episodes of Coven so far but I do agree with you that AHS works better watching them in a binge style.

yeah but i can see a lot of comedy in this. like the last season. with freaky people and sillyness,which will probably be about a family of freaks doing dodgy things rather than a true horror story.
