Default Pointless Threads

Instead of just locking threads, have them deleted instantly. I think that the admin should have a sweep of the forum and delete all pointless threads deleted during the last month. Maybe issue warnings for members who post pointless threads regularly. How about having regular chatroom meetings with the admins to discuss forum ideas etc.

But this forum is huge, it would take ages to delete pointless threads.

It is the time it would take. We don't have endless time to spend on the site.

We are all unpaid and most of us have other jobs.

We have our own area which we discuss things in it, is known as TiBB towers and we discuss what is best for the site.

We do what we can because we love the site, but we can't be everywhere all the times and sometimes things get posted we don't have time to deal with straight away.

Members can help us by acting responsibly and reporting posts that break the rules.

With that I wish you goodnight.

matt, you'll get used to it. And believe me, it gets a whole lot worse during the shows, so once BB8 kicks off, this place will be full of useless, pointless nonsense. Best thing is to just skip over them. It's tedious but it's the only answer.

I bet you can't wait Linda.

Do you want me to get a friend to hand out leaflets for TIBB around schools?

A 1000 new members, all schoolkids, yeah

I think it is a good idea - its just the time to do it thats the problem.

I do think that monthly meetings in the chatroom would be good though - not as a whinge session as contructive discussions to see how we can work together as a group to make this site as succesful as possible

I'm all for helping TiBB in anyway and i think a monthly or weekly meeting where both parties can share thoughts is a good thing.

How do you become a Mod? Also are you looking for a new reporter for the main site?

Drop James a line about reporting for BB8 he organises that kind of thing - I am sure he would be grateful for any help offered.

We are ok for Mods just now thanks, who knows what BB8 will bring though.

Yeah, I got it... thanks for offering to help out. I'm changing the way that the news system on the site works at the moment - I'll need to see how the new system works in practise first before we get any new reporters. I'll let you know when I've finished the changes.

I think those who post pointless threads should be banned. But then again in heinsight you have the 'Ignore' button if you see a regular offender.

The problem is that some of them are new members and possibly don't realise how annoying it is. So it would be a bit unfair to ban them when they just get here.

If someone opened a topic called:-

"I saw a hair on my head, but I am bald"

That could be construed as being a pointless thread?

"The clock struck one at 17 minutes past 4"

That could be construed as being a pointless thread?

"Zebra heads from mobassa"

That could be construed as being a pointless thread?

The examples can go on forever? But, if it is so pointless, then a moderator may lock or even delete it altogether.

It is not a serious problem really Ryceratops.

and in light of recent events, it probably is quite low down on the list of problems.

Wait until the door becomes wide open, as soon as Big Brother 8 arrives

It would take ages and put a huge strain on the admins and mods who already do an excellent job to keep this forum clean. They should just lock them in passing.
