Default Ashleigh Coyle's Rise To Become Popular

Ashleigh Coyle is the favourite to win Big Brother 2014 but it’s not always been the case.

As we enter the tenth and final we take a look back at our weekly poll results.

Going back to the early weeks, the then quiet Northern Irish girl was blasted by viewers for being “boring”.

At her lowest point in Week 3, Ashleigh ranked as just eighth on our popularity poll while the bookies had as an 20/1 outsider to even make the final.

She was behind the likes of now gone Jale Karaturp, Kimberly Kisselovich, Winston Showan, Mark Byron and Matthew Davies to win the show.

It was in Week Four that Ashleigh then began to garner support before topping our weekly polls for the first time in Week 5.

It’s a position she’s kept ever since as fans have began to rally around the ‘anti-Helen’ of the house.

But even then the bookies didn’t quite rate her chances with odds of 12/1, still behind Jale, Mark and Winston.

And Week Six could’ve seen her exit in the latest eviction were it not for a huge social media campaign to save her, at the expense of Jale.

Although she’s now the strong favourite to win, Ashleigh’s victory is far from assured with the current momentum with Christopher Hall.

Like Ashleigh, Christopher started the series as a rank outsider but his rise has been rather slower and more gradual.

Only since Week 7 has Christopher been in the top 3 in our popularity poll and just last week did he overtake Chris and begin to bite into Ashleigh’s lead.

It’s all shaping up for a very close final on Friday night and we can’t wait.

Just another reason why she deserves to win. She had a huge turn around and became one of the most interesting housemates when many people had written her off in the early weeks.

An incredible turnaround.

She was desperately boring in the first few weeks, got booed heavily by the crowd, that got the recognition she deserved by becoming Power HM and winning immunity and being cheered

I've been a victim of bullying but i am far from inspired by Ashleigh

Calling someone 'ugly', 'vile' and 'a dick' etc is far from being a role model. That just makes her sound equally as bad as Helen if you ask me.

Plus - it was Ashleigh who started on Helen first - calling Helen names like that long before Helen had any problem with Ashleigh.

And what about when Ashleigh started her 'evil plan' - taking all the other girls aside to manipulate them all into 'not saving Ash' - she DELIBERATELY excluded Helen to prevent Ash being saved. She did that to hurt Helen and Ash on purpose.

Excluding someone like that and acting in a way to upset them - is far from inspiring or heroic behaviour.

If anything it sounds more like bullying!

Helen's no angel in her angry tirades but Ashleigh is no better and is far more sneaky in a way that Helen has never been in the house.

I would agree but I think Ashleigh just had a problem with the way Helen had treated so many hms in the house, while Helen had no reason to have a problem with how Ashleigh had treated anybody. I don't think saying Ashleigh "started on Helen" first is a fair representation of the situation. Helen started on so many hms first, and Ashleigh had a problem with it.

If I had been dropped in the house at around week 3, I'd also have a bad impression of Helen and have a problem with her, just by watching how she'd treated others.

I also didn't get the feeling that she wanted to hurt Ash at all, it was about her and Helen. And I don't think she just wanted to upset Helen by getting her friend out, she wanted to show her she can't have her own way all the time, and that she wouldn't allow her to dominate girl power. I really don't think it had much to do with her hating Ash. Whatever the task would have been, Ashleigh would have tried to make sure Helen couldn't try to dominate like she would have presumed she could.
