He does wear 2 hearing aids they've been mentioned in conversation but he finds it difficult when more than one person is speaking and because off the accents and when people speak fast. A hearing aid is what it says on the tin its an aid not a cure.

He is none of them. He is finding his own way in life, which we all have to do, for that reason he is a star. His charity work and talks depict a very caring man.

A lack of tolerance and consideration of elderly people with hearing problems and how these two things can impact on communication and behaviour is far worse.

Unfortunately you will probably understand it one day and expect people to show you some consideration - but intolerant, selfish young peole will always exist.

Cuts both ways, from the start he was told that he was disliked by them all. He has tried to join in but he is shunned. He feels betrayal from Leslie. His only true friend in there is Frenchy. Have they tried to get into a one to one chat with him, he asks certain things, they answer and then run away. He tried to get in a conversation with Audley (whom I like) but there was no interaction. James letures him but at least it is someone for him to talk to. Leslie decries his 4 year old son, did he ever try and chat about it? He had a lovely cuddle with Frenchy because he knows that she respects him......Even now Adele is talking down to him, not with him, this is what they do as though they are greater than him but they arent, not by a long chalk. Quite honestly they make me sick.

I am hearing disabled, hope it does not happen to you! When in a crowded place its a bit if a nightmare, lots screechy voices all jumbled up and actually quite painful.
What he has put up with in there is awful and I am full of admiration for him.

I agree with you, what you quoted was my response to someone who said why doesn't Gary wear hearing aids. I was explaining that he does but it's an aid not a cure for deafness, there are still times when it is difficult for him to hear even with hearing aids on.

People say that a lot about deaf people but believe me, its a load of twaddle and insensitive. There are lots of differs ts tyoes of deafness, I fir example, miss certain sounds so often just pick out bits.it also depends on a persons voice, plus accents can be a nightmare, as is several people speaking over each other. I could go on but you could read up about it, it might happen to you one day and being prepared helps!

I've been deaf in one ear from a child and it is very disabilitating sometimes,I cannot hear certain tones and anyone that mumbles is a nightmare,luckily I have good hearing in my other ear,but I'de hate to think what it would be like to lose my hearing in that ear,it can and is quite embarrassing sometimes.
