Default Man from UK embeds hammer in gay roommate's head

Quote:
A gay teen was attacked by his roommate with a hammer as he slept on his first night at their apartment in Kent, a court has heard.

Police found Connor Huntley, 18, alive on his blood-spattered airbed in May last year but with the claw hammer embedded in his head.

He was taken to hospital and treated for a depressed skull fracture and a penetrating brain injury but was left braindamaged by the attack.

His attacker, Joseph Williams, 21, denies attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He told the prosecution that there was no reason for the attack but his mental health had ‘deteriorated.’

The two men did not know previously each other but had been put together by their landlord. The victim often wore women’s clothes and makeup while Williams was from a Catholic background and had made ‘disparaging comments about gay people’ in the past, jurors were told.

The court heard that Huntley moved into the apartment on the day of the attack at 11am. He spent the day cleaning the apartment with his friends while Williams visited his girlfriend. Williams came back at 5.10am and attacked Huntley while he slept.

A friend of the victim came to the apartment at 10.30am the next day but Williams said he was still asleep. He then dialed 999 and told the operator what he had done.

'The Crown says that to hit someone more than once with a hammer in their sleep hard enough for the hammer to be embedded in their head clearly demonstrates an intention to kill them,' the BBC reported prosecuter Philip Bennetts QC as saying.

The trial continues.

Poor guy, I can't imagine what he went through being alive for such a long time unable to help himself.

Hope the horrible bastard who did it the longest sentence possible.

unfortunately the UK has much stricter rules around ongoing criminal cases, which is one of the reasons people don't realize the violence going on in the UK, it's a coverup.

I don't think the US should adopt similar limitations on our press, but it is important to note that is one of the reasons why you hear about horrific crimes more often in the US, because we do have a free press.

The UK press can report all the horrible crimes in there US with no consequence, but are not allow3d to fully report all of the horrific crimes at home, so they use US crimes to fill the pages with sensational horrific crimes.

He'll be about before he's 40...

Should either be executed or given an actual life sentence.

A horrific and saddening crime has been committed and all you can do is bang on about the USA vs UK?

I personall would never even consider living with a complete stranger. Not without locking (secure, heavy) locking doors. I actually thought that was a legal requirement in multiple occupancy houses these days? I know it was in my uni shared house, and that was with friends.

Also if it's any comfort to those worrie about him being left like that for so long: with a head injury like that, it's very unlikely he was conscious at any point. He probably went to sleep and woke up in hospital. Which is horrific in its' own way, I suppose... would you ever go to sleep feeling safe and secure again? Or always with that memory of something horrific happening when completely vulnerable and defenseless?

Surely they could have put a plate in to make his head a better shape, it'll be harder to get over the crime with the constant reminder of half your head stoved in like that and the stares and comments?
Fair play for just being alive though, poor lad.

I'm not sure if it's the same situation but in my first year of University I had to share a flat with 3 other people (younger than me, I was 21 at the time, but I'd never met them prior to the day we signed the tenancy agreement) and we has no locks on our doors... and then again in my second year (but I then knew who I was living with)
