I know it can't really be helped much these days because people like different things and then of course you have people with simliar likes and dislikes but what do you think to the whole groups forming in the house? does it ruin things for you or do you find it more entertaining to watch?

Good topic idea Mike
I think from a viewers point of view, it has its disadvantages and advantages. Advantages are that its good to watch as the groups form and to see them bitch about each other and to see which housemates sit on the fence. Disadvantages are that it makes the nominations & eviction far too predictable. Back in BB3/BB4 it was a lot harder to call who would be nominated, and sometimes to tell who would be evicted. But now most people can correctly predict who will b evicted before the nominations are announced. |

Your spot on there. Like you said it's good to watch as it all goes on but then when it comes down to nominations it just get silly because you know who is going to nominate who therefore we practically know who will be up.

Great topic.
I think it is one of the most interesting parts of Big Brother and one of the reasons why I'm such a fan of the show. I believe that some first year psychology students are tasked with watching the group dynamics in big brother. It's noticeable that the people who stick together initially usually stay together to the end. There have been some exceptions but that rule stands for most Big Brother. I also think that Big Brother doesn't get truly interesting till we see the groups forming. Big Brother 5 saw, in my opinion, one of the best groups dynamics in Big Brother history. It was fascinating to watch a genuine battle for control of the house between the Jungle Cats and the lip gloss bitches. Ultimately the battle was won by the more friendly group. It's true that the groups make the nomination process more predictable but that's has it's advantages. It shows who is most unpopular in the house |

Yes it's too predictable...but we enjoy that ! The battle of the groups brings a lot of arguments and great moments because if all the housemates are in love for each other, it's boring !
I want a big war between the groups this year, with strategies, big game-players and treasons ! |

I think it makes for fascinating viewing when groups form. And as GiRTh said, the battle between the Jungle Cats and the Lipgloss Bitches in BB5, made the series as good as it was. Personally I loved Dan, who managed to fit well into both groups.

BB5 Battle was the most entertaining one ever ! Victor and Jason's bitching moment were legendary against the famous laugh of the Lip Gloss Bitches !

So what is the real reason and the answer to this question?? Well it is easy really. The reason that housemates will cling together in little groups, is, that they will be happy with each others company and will "click" quite nicely. If there are other housemates which are a nuicence/irrotating, then it is going to be obvious that someone or more within a group will voice their opinions of that individual or group and before you know it, an argument may break out. During this argument, the members of that group will stick together like glue and will look upon the one who strongly voices their opinion loudly and also voice their opinions in quiet, behind their backs and concur totally, with the person who voices that opinion, as they are extrovert. The members of that group(housemates) will admire that person who is arguing, with a particular housemate or housemates from another group and sometimes, the person who was arguing will get the total blame, when they actually shouldn't have. My answer, is very clear it's almost see-through crystal. Arguments which happen, due to strong differences of opinion, as a result of groups forming, will create good ratings for the show as many don't like a boring BB But this time, I have to say, that there will be a certain exception to CBB5 whereby, a particular housemate or housemates will be very safe, as all brains of all housemates are certainly more wary. I like seeing drama and the odd argument and it is a winning combination, most of the time nodisharmony |

It was good in BB5 because it was plain banter more than anything else and it funny to watch, especially Victor comparing himself to Bush, but the groups in BB6 and BB7 were malicious to each other.

the biggest divide i think this year is gonna be smokers vs non smokers. due to the ban, housemates can only smoke outside and that will eventually create groups.

I think it would be easier, if they asked every housemates who BB interview, (before they make their final selection), whether they smoke or not? Then pick a line-up of housemates who are non-smokers and disregard the rest That's a new idea nodisharmony |

yea but i doubt they would do that cuz that wouldnt be a reason to not select a good personality. discrimination smokers would not go down well with the smoking public lol. there defo will be smokers and it'll be good to see how they adjust with the ban in the house.

I agree Cody, that it would be interesting, this smokers divide and some will be popping out, more often than not This could make a smokers group form? It would be unfair to discrimate smokers, but Endemol can do what it likes and they could say, that it was just a coincidence that no-smokers were picked as house-mates nodisharmony |

Will the smoking ban affect them? This might be a daft question, but although the law will be no smoking in public places, the BB house is not a public place as such. It won't come in until halfway through the series anyway. But if the smokers do have to go outside by law, it might actually stop arguments...because any people who don't like smoking can hardly protest at them smoking outside, whereas if people are allowed to smoke inside, there might be more arguments.

I would like there to be no-smoking in the BB house anyway. For any non-smoker, it is never nice to be breathing in other peoples passive cigarette smoke. I remember Ian 'H' Watkins(Steps) complaining about Dirk Benedict(Face A-Team) smoking his Cigars. But he wouldn't listen. Well that could change in BB8 for all housemates. nodisharmony |

I agree with what the majority have said so far. It certainly makes the show more interesting to watch when they split up in groups, i quite like the way they start as one massive group then certain housemates get bored of one another or they have an argument over something and then they start to form their own little groups, makes good viewing.

I thought the BB6 house was very cleverly designed. There were so many different areas that the the housemates could easily avoid people they didn't like. that's why there was so much bitching in BB6.

We must not get bored
If groups form and arguments flare, it will get people watching. Sad, but true...... It's like the "Jeremy Kyle show" They always show us a hard-hitting clip, to get us to watch. nodisharmony |

I quite like groups aslong as there's no single bullying going on with one big group against one person.

In relation to what was said within the thread my dear GiRTh. Hense the great chance of a BB show, where groups will more than likely form and we can have CBB5 all over again. But without the race issue, of course.... Endemol have sorted that!!! nodisharmony |
