Stacey Allaster, the CEO of the WTA Tour, brought her hammer down on Shamil Tarpischev, the head of the Russian Tennis Federation, on Friday after his comments on late-night TV talk show Evening Urgant. She leveled a $25,000 fine and a one-year ban from WTA goings-on again him, also saying that the WTA intends to see him removed as chairman of the Kremlin Cup event in Moscow, which is presently underway. What's more, she called on him to formally apologize to Venus and Serena Williams, who he termed "brothers" on the TV program.
