THIS 100%.

For myself, I believe that anyone who refuses to observe a mere one minute's silence in respect for all the fallen on Remembrance Sunday, are vile, ignorant pricks - which is exactly what I posted.

My comments are aimed specifically at those who refused to comply - not at the Club, nor all the fans, nor Scotland, nor anyone else - just those who refused.

It would not matter an iota to me if the offending people were English fans at an Irish match, or Irish fans at a Welsh match.

Kirk, why not applaud the 99 per cent who upheld the silence rather than give a platform to the 1per cent that didn't I guess I look for the positives rather than dwelling on the negatives

Because it only takes 1% to disrupt a silence. Because it's a silence.

Again, shame on that 1%.

Maybe they ought to take a minute and ask themselves if they would be living in a society where you are free to make that choice if it weren't for those who lost their lives in the past.

I remarked specifically on the 'negative' aspect Cherie, because the original post was specifically about those 'fans' who did not observe the silence, but I do applaud, not only those who did pay their respects, but - after Josy enlightened me with his post - also those fans who tried in vain to persuade the dissenting fans to comply, and those who subsequently condemned those dissenters.

Speed Bumps - 'Sleeping Policemen'.

The above is what I would say to anyone if I were pressed to give a two word answer to all that is wrong with our society.

'Sleeping Policemen' are an admission - not only - that some drivers will not adhere to the speed limits on some of our roads -- despite an intrinsic Moral Code, inherent intelligence, instruction, guidance, and the Law -- but also, that we are actually powerless to make these bastards comply. Hence, Speed Bumps are built into these roads.

Speed Bumps; the cost of which installation and maintenance have to be paid for by all of us drivers who do comply with the law, annoy the hell out those of us who do comply with Law, and cause additional wear and tear to the vehicles of those of us who do comply with Law.

In other words - Speed Bumps are an example of how in a Democracy an ignorant, selfish minority actually impose their will upon the vast majority.

Last night 4 days after Bonfire Night, as with the 7 days before Bonfire Night, very, very loud 'Bangers' and 'Rockets' were being set off by a couple of households nearby us. This started around 6.30 pm and went on until about 10.30 pm, ruining ours - and our other neighbours - evening, and frightening our dogs beyond the expected and accepted 'traditional' couple of days 'Guy Fawkes' celebrations. This is yet another example of how an ignorant and selfish mindless minority, impose their will upon the decent, considerate majority.

Boorish idiots talking and laughing loudly in the cinema, ignorant and brazen 'queue jumpers' and 'dragged up' yobbos who piss in the street outside pubs and clubs - carelessly exposing themselves to passers by into the bargain -- the examples go on.

And the mindless, selfish minority who acted so disgustingly during the one minutes silence, marring the ceremony for the majority who wanted to pay their respects to the fallen by observing the silence, are just another example.

The trouble is, that this minority is growing year by year and their total disregard for others, arrogantly increasing with each successive generation.

The above all said, then I stand by my condemnation of the ignorant and vile fans in question, and all that they represent.

I agree with all you have said Kirk, but it does irk me that the minority always get the headlines, I know this is what makes news and sells newspapers, taking football supporters as an example it is always the minority of racists, or hooligans etc that get the press and unfortunately tar their fellow supporters with the same brush.

Yes, unfortunately, you are right Cherie - it does seem to be solely the minority who get the headlines. A few years ago, I'm sure that some enterprising chap floated a newspaper which only reported good news. I seem to remember that it went out of business very, very quickly.

I also think it was completely disrespectful, but if you look into what they were singing and why then you may understand a little bit more about why they don't respect the British Army, which btw is solely their choice.
good post,
this is the first time, i have heard of this type of thing happening, for me its just been the normal thing to be respectful to those that died.

I think it's kind of different with Celtic and Rangers. Everybody knows what they are about, the history, the politics. They aren't football clubs, they are institutions. If you support Celtic you are going to get labelled a certain way just as if you support Rangers. Until fan groups of both clubs say they've had enough and cut it out of their club ethos then even "honest" fans who only support them because their da does or because it actually is their local team are going to get caught up in it. Both clubs even play on it, Celtic are forever slapping Irish tricolour's on their jerseys and the Rangers third kit this season sports half a Union flag. You could have seen this incident coming a mile off.

There's a 30 odd page topic on a main a Celtic forum right now about it, some people are embarrassed about it but a lot of people are delighted with it. Here's just a few examples.

'**** the British army and their silence.

Up the rebels.'

'I am scottish and have no affinity with Ireland. I don't look out for the ROI score or hope they do well in tournaments. I understand it part of our roots but apart from that I have zero affection for the irish.

However...all this fake outrage over a few wideos from people who are ****ing DYING for this to happen is ****ing disgusting.

Why the **** SHOULD they be told what to do. Their money is the same as anyone elses so if yhey dont want to show respect then thats up to them.

****ing stupid to have war and football mixed together. I can picture Aberdeen rubbing their hands at the lovely trap they've set the stupid fenians.

I used to feel a bit embarrassed when our fans broke the silence. Now I really could not give a **** if they do.

**** the huns and their fake celebrations of war and good on our support for refusing to be manipulated.'

'Not by choice as the majority of Celtic fans do not want to be British'

'Oh how I long for the days when we had collections for the hunger strikers outside the ground and the whole stadium belted out A Soldiers Song with pride.

What the hell is happening to our great club?'

Fking hell - What an illuminating post. Scary to realise how deep and convoluted this is.

I would honestly never break a minutes silence, out of respect.. but honestly I don't see why everyone is overreacting and saying that they should die etc.
