As Big Brother rolls past the halfway stage, only one housemate has never been nominated for eviction by anyone. And the popular housemate's name is...Stuart.

The laidback lover from Macclesfield has managed to spend 37 days in the House without attracting the spite of any other housemate.

But is he really popular? Or is he the grey man of the House?

The secret of his success so far appears to be his ability to drift between both camps in the House: The Harem and the Jungle Cats.

The chilled out dude has bonded with Jason and Victor as 'one of the guys' but, unlike them, he has not done so in a way that alienates the rest of the House.

Stu has been equally comfortable in the company off Marco, Nadia, and especially, Michelle. Consequently both groups felt a loyalty toward him that ensured his safety from nomination.

While there are plenty of people in the House with strong opinions, Stuart has yet to voice any beyond his love for his cowboy hat. Even his affair with Michelle has been somewhat lacklustre - more vague mumblings than any declarations of love.

Is he happy being Michelle's chicken?


Also, Stuart does not bad mouth anyone in the House. He's a good listener, who somehow makes a habit of agreeing with who he's talking to, without appearing two-faced.

Another factor is that his moods have been pretty constant. There have been no moodies thrown by him and when he's been brought down by Michelle's nominations, he hasn't taken it out on anyone else.

But besides the House's two camps, there are the neutral middle-grounders, Shell and Dan. While they stand apart and are not bound to either group, Stuart manages to be bound to both.

His nominations have been something of a mystery. So he's far gone for Ahmed, Vanessa (twice), Daniel, Shell and Nadia. And none of them, you suspect, would have any idea.

Whether being handsome, personable and relaxed is enough to win him Big Brother, we will have to wait and find out. But it has certainly kept him safe from the exit so far.
