I would be happy if all public parks had smoking bans. Nothing worse than jogging through a nice green area and running right into a smoke cloud.

Are they still allowing cars in Bristol? Or are the deadly fumes that cars pump out quite acceptable?

I hope every single smoker in this country packs up tomorrow. Then we can have a thread about how much more tax we're all going to have to pay (those of us who pay tax anyway) to make up for the lost tobacco tax revenue.

I'm an ex smoker but I agree with livia....the government can't have it all ways. The amount of tax revenue they claw in from smokers is astronomical but yet smokers are now very much seen as a drain on society. An average working smoker will pay tax on their income and every packet of fags they buy which in turn funds this country and the NHS and then are refused treatment by the very same nhs their tax has funded for being a smoker!!, it's ridiculous.

I do think that it would help business greatly if the ridiculous fag break was abolished and adults were made to work properly without a weasel break to smoke tobacco

Not really... I am a very social smoker. The treasury doesn't make that much cash out of me. Well, not through tobacco tax anyway.

It's not really no smoking public spaces then. Merely advised no smoking areas. I highly doubt any smoker would bother acknowledging that since there are no consequences if you do smoke in these public areas.
