Earlier today I was watching videos on youtube of people blogging about close encounters to them being abducted or narrowly escaping something awful happening. There was this one girl who's story really stood out because she talked about having nightmares for no reason until her family told her that she was kidnapped when she was a toddler, luckily they acted fast and she was found not long after. Her nightmares stopped after she was told about what had happened to her.
This made me realise that I am currently having a similar problem but in a different way, I've had two incidents happen to me. When I was about 15 I went to the supermarket after school and bought a few things, I used the toilet and was washing my hands and this man approached me and asked me where I lived, I said that I lived local and he offered to take me for "a ride in his car". I obviously declined the offer but ever since then I get really uncomfortable if someone offers to give me a lift, like, friends and family yeah but if it's a friend of a friend or someone like that I would never. I'm not even keen on getting in a taxi on my own There was another time at notting hill carnival (London) when I was about 3 or 4 and it was at night, I was walking with my family and was holding my aunties hand and then (I don't even know how it happened) I wasn't holding her hand anymore and lost everyone, it was really packed and I went to an area with less people and sat on the wall and started crying because I was so shocked. I think I was crying for about 5 minutes and then my family found me because they heard me crying. When I'm in shock I usually go really quiet and not say anything at all, I've never been known to cry and what's scary is that I could have easily just been quiet and not have said anything when I realised I was lost and it would have taken everyone so much longer to find me. When I was about 5 my Mom and Brother lost me, and about half an hour later some old man found me and brought me back apparently.
I honestly can't remember any of it though, but I'm assuming that he wasn't sinister as he brought me straight back to my family.

That's why I never really like to go out on my own and that I always go with friends or family, it does keep them safer as well after all.
And you was wise not to “take a ride in his Car” btw as he could've been sinister you will never really know, but it's good to be careful.

When I was 3/4 we were in Greece or somewhere like that and went swimming in this cove area with dolphins. There was a large group of us, and my dad was already in the water. The guy in charge of the boat put my life jacket on, and put me into the water to my dad. I slipped straight through the life jacket and sunk into the sea, sinking towards the bottom, my dad had to swim far down to get me and bring me back up to the surface.

When I was 8 I ran away from the childrens home (It was a good childrens home, but it was new to me then and I was homesick) Anyway I started crying in the middle of Liverpool because I was scared and someone must have called the police, because two plain clothes officers turned up. They were leading me to their car, but because they weren't in uniform I suddenly thought, what if they aren't really the police?
I started to struggle and crowd got quite ugly on my behalf, thinking I was being roughly handled. In the end they took me to the police station, took me to the kennels and showed me an alsation and said if >I ran away again they would send him after me. Then they gave me chocolate and milk. It all ended well, but I still remember that moment of utter panic when I thought I was being taken away by strange men. |

..yeah there usually is a reason for our fears and worries, it's just that we don't always know what it is because it's not something that's in our conscious mind but our sub conscious remembers everything from the moment we are born..but once we do understand where these fears come from and that there is an actual reason for them then they start to dissolve because we can rationalise them...there is no reason not to get into a car with someone you know now Germyle because the same dangers are not there but these things do stay with you and can be hard to overcome... |

I've been held at gunpoint. It certainly wakes you up. It wasn't just me I was in a group of people.
When I was six a relative lent us their caravan on the south coast. My two year old brother disappeared, I remember my mother being quietly hysterical. The police came and everyone around joined in to help look for him, all along the beach, on the main road... everywhere. He was found about two hours later, he'd made a camp under the caravan fallen asleep. |

Nearly got hit by a bus when I was about 18. I was tired and just... wandered across the road not even realising there was traffic. It was going pretty fast, blared the horn, I jumped forwards and it actually hit the backpack that I had over my shoulder. One step further back and... *splat*. Lolz.
I was also electrocuted by some bare mains wires in a utility cupboard when I was in my teens, my arm just gently brushed the wires but I was thrown into the opposite wall and my heart was absolutely pounding, like nothing I've ever felt before or since. I didn't go to hospital or anything, but I've sort of wondered since if it could have been much worse... OH, and when I was 8 or 9 I was out in nearby fields / forests with a friend and I fell head first off a 30-foot or so straight drop and was left hanging there, upside down, by a piece of rusty barbed wire that I had tripped on and had tangled around my leg. Friend managed to pull me back up! Last edited by Toy Soldier; 25-03-2015 at 10:45 PM. |

I used to live in America (as most of you know) and there was one point living there while there was a serial sniper going around and killing people at random. Everyone was terrified. I remember kids werent allowed to walk to school, even if they were within 10 feet of the school. It was crazy.
Anyway there was one day where we got Mcdonalds and took it home. We all got back to the house and I realised there was no Honey Mustard in the house (sob) and for some reason, we always kept some in the car (ew). My mum was like, 'just go get it from the car and leave the door open' so I was like 'Okay' I went out to the car and I remember seeing this white car with blacked out windows speeding down the road. I watched the car and there was a person in there and as soon as they spotted me, they slammed on the breaks and waved their hands asking me to come to the car. I freaked out straight away and ran inside and shut the door behind me. I wasn't going to say anything but then my mum asked me what happened and I burst out crying and said how someone told me to go to the car. It could easily have been something totally innocent, but what kind of person asks a kid to go to their car :/

![]() & I get what you mean about the bus story, but remember that buses regularly stop. With trains the next stop can be a completely different city ![]() Last edited by Gstar; 27-03-2015 at 07:51 PM. |
