yeah .. usually racism sells & plays on people's psyche better than anything, now a days..

Look at Shipla Shetty (I am from India& can see it)- from being a no starter a few years back, to calling herself a Princess or whatever on BB.. now she has it ALL, from a well orchestrated drama..
So to speak Indians, due to the varied cultures, ethnicity and size of the country is more desensitized to nasty comments and from 'one Indian to another', might not always think of it as racist comment/ harrasment..

But then on BB and big prize money shows, one needs to spice things up to get the TRPs (for the producers) and fame (for the mediocre celebrities)..
